Soruberger, at one o'clock on Wednesday, April 21st. The build- ing was a total loss, as were the con- tents. The homés of Mr. John Short and Mr, Archie Barnett, which are across the road from the blacksmith shop, were in danger many times as the strong wind carried the sparks iu their direction, The April meeting of the Seagrave W. A. was held at thé home of Mrs, S. Reynolds on Wednesday afternoon, April 14th. There were 27 members and three visitors present, and the collection amourted to $8.95 Thé . President, Mrs. Jas. Shunk, called the meeting to order and all joined in singing the hymn "For the Beauty of the Earth" after which Mrs. Orchard and Mrs, Payne led in short prayers. Mrs. Eagleson took charge of the Scripture lesson using as her theme the story of the "Lost Sheep" as found in Luke 16. Mrs, Eagleson read a most interesting writing on the explanation of this chapter. In clos- ing Mis. S. Wooldridge sang "There Were Ninety and Nire" in conjunction with the devotional exercises. After a lengthy discussion on business on hand the following program was given by Group 3 under the leadership of Mrs. Wm. Short: a duet by Mrs. Jas. Harding and Mrs. Wm. Keen, ertitled "In the Garden"; reading by Mrs. E. Clements, Notes of. pilgrim (Vimy Crusade); solo by Mrs. C. W. Clarke, He Whispered Love's Message to 'Me. The meet- ing was in charge of Miss A. Frise, convener of the Christian Fellowship committee. She had secured as speak- er for the evening, Rev. Mr. Smyth, of Port Perry, who spoke on "Life as a Mirror" or "Getting out of life what we put into it." Those who were not fortunate enough to be present missed a good deal as .Rev. Mr. Smyth left us some very helpful thoughts, His closing thought was "Give to the world the best you have and the best will come back to you," We hope in Mr, Smyth's next visit with us he will not have any, other engagements for the same evening and will be able to share the meeting with us: Mr, and Mrs. H. Wannamaker, Mr. Glen Warmamaker and Miss Mitchell, 'attended a shower for Mr. and Mrs. G. T. Raines, at Prince Albert, on Wednesday evening. Mr. and Mrs. A. Mr. Donald Ross of Maple Grove, visited his aunts here over the week end. Several from here attended the aluminium demonstration that was held at the home of Mrs. Allin Ross of Ashburn or: Thursday night. Re- servations have been made to have two similar demonstrations in this neighbour hood in the next few weeks, Mr. H, Roy Bright who has been in the insurance business in Port Perry since removing from here about a year ago, has moved to Weston where he is managing a farm. - Friends here wish him success in his new venture, Mr. and Mrs. Morley Cook visited friends at Enniskillen on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Dorald Timms and family and Mr. Geo. Timms, Toronto, spent Sunday with the former's brother, - Mr. Albert Timms. There was a splendid attendance at the W.M.S. meeting which was held at the home of Mrs. Luery last week. The meeting was in charge of the president, Mrs, Honey. After the opening hymn Mrs. Ross led in prayer and Mrs, Mitchell read the devotional leaflet for March and Mrs. Honey read the leaflet for April. Other readings were given by Mrs. Hudgins and Mrs. Chisholm, Arrangements were made for the Easter Thank Offering. An- nouncement will be made later. Mrs. Luery gave a splendid talk on "New lif¢ irs rural communities" taken from the Study Book. Meeting closed with hymn "There is work to do for Jesus", Light refreshments were served by the hostess to whom a vote of thanks was tendered. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Hudgins. We are sorry to report that Mr. H. Lane is still very sick and little hope is held for his recovery. Mrs. W. H. McCartney and daughter of Brooklin, spert Sunday with her parents Mr. and Mrs. C. Harrison. Mr. 'and Mrs. Bowerman, of Port Perry, were Sunday guests of Mr, and Mrs. Oliver Lane. Mr. and Mrs. BR J. BE, Beacock, last Wednesday, attended the funeral of Mrs. Beacock's nephew, Major-Gen. Garnet Burk Hughes, C.B.,- C.M.G., D.S.0., late of Toronto, Interment took place in Lindsay.
