We are pleased to see some of the prominent men of Port Perry taking an interest in the Seagrave Baseball team, Their attendance at the game on Wednesday afternoon was appre- ciated. Seagrave Baseball team scored its defeated Zion on Wednesday evening last by a score of 9-0, having defeated Valentia on Monday night by a score of 10-2, Jack Finley hurled for both games. and while touched rather free- Jy he kept the hits well scattered in both games with the rest of the team giving him air-tight support. The large crowd attending the home game on Wednesday against Zion was much impressed by the playing of the two junior players Harvey Clarke at third and -Ken Scott in right field, both playing their positions well and bat- ting at a .300 clip. Doug. Wallace hit-a' home-run with one on, making the circuit in about 13 flat, . The manager is well pleased with his team, some veterans, some in their prime and with the rookies, the at- tendance as on Wednesday, tends to give the boys the encouragement needed. A 7 eal Piece of Neighbourly Spirit To watch helplessly in the morning as flames devoured all their personal property and by nightfall to find them- selves comfortably ensconced in a well-furnished home, has been the uni- que experience of Mr, and Mrs. Arthur McConnell, of Pickering. The MecConnells lost their farm home and its contents last Friday through fire which allegedly started from an overheated stove, while they were at the barn doing the morning milking. , Before the .flames in' the ruins en- tirely died down, fourteen neighbours were busily engaged in erecting a roomy two-roomed cottage, and in four hours, the building was ready for habitation. In the meantime, others had collected the furnishings so that when the building was finished, it was fully "equipped with the necessary articles even to the calendars for the walls which a thoughtful neighbour had supplied.
