Corbett: Dear Marion,--Amid the chimes of merry sleigh bells in our midst this winter have also floated faintly on the air, the happy tinkle of distant -wed- ding bells becoming clearer and clear- er, and seemingly drawing nearer to us as spring was bursting forth, un- til the chimes resounded with un- mistakable echoes of Marion and Den, Marion apd. Don, Marion and Don, and as the joyous bells ring out there glad tidings of happiness for you so we the members of the Girls' Institute wish to echo as it were in a small way our deep appreciation of your friendship, loyalty and helpful- ness in our Institute. Your presence as a member, oflicial or hostess has' been always a most pleasant addition to our meetings. Your social contact among us is best expressed in the little verse It was only a glad "Good morning" As she passed along the way; But it spread the morning's glory Over the livelong day. So along with this gift to you come our very best wishes for oceans of happiness and deep contentment in your future wedded life together. The bride and groom with a few well chosen words expressed their "thanks after which all joined in sing- ing "For they are jolly good fellows." Mr. J. LL. Sweetman then came to the piano and all enjoyed community singing while lunch was being pre- pared which was also enjoyed. Finally all wished the bride and groom a long and happy life together and left for Y | their respective homes, The Fortnight club which was held in the Township Hall was held last Friday evening. The meeting opened with Mr. Ralph Milner in charge and the Angling of the "Maple Leaf For- ever". Mrs, J. Aldred, Mrs. R. D. Burnham, Mrs. A, Prentice and Miss Dorothy Fines, all gave interesting readings; Mr. Victor Aldred gave a piano number as did Mr. J. Hossack; Mr. Glen Hood sang a solo with Miss Margaret Crozier at the piano. Mr. Harvéy Edgar tap danced to the music provided by Mr. Stewart Mark at the piano and 'Mr. John Burnham on the violin. The rest of the evening was spent in dancing. Mr. R. Hood, Mr. A. Gerrow and Miss Grace Dem- ara are preparing the program for April 14th. Miss Mildred Mills is visiting her sister Mrs. L. Stainton at Hampton. Miss Luella Jeffrey has returned home from Pickering where she has been for the past few months. There were quite a number from here attended the Midget hockey game at Oshawa, when Port Perry played Paris and the Lehman's of East York, We are proud of our boys. : ap MYRTLE Mr. Hutchinson, L.P.S, of Whitby, made _ his semi-annual visit at the school on Thursday. Mr. George Kelly who has been living in what was formerly Mr. Jas. Cook's house east of the village, moved to Oshawa last week. Mrs. W. S. Parks was confined to her bed and under -the doctor's care the earlier part of the week. A former resident of this village died at her home in Prince Albert last week in the person of Mrs. Mary Parker. Deceased was seized with a stroke and was only sick a short time when she passed away. Her daughter, Miss Jean Parker, has the sympathy of many friends here, A number of friends gathered at the parsonage on Saturday night and spent a social evening and made it the occasion of presenting Mr. Melvin Honey and Miss Marion Martin with a little remembrance from the com- munity on the eve of their marriage. They were made the recipients of a pitcher from Mrs, Hudgins, a painting from Miss Smith and a set of sherbert glasses from Mrs. G. Holiday. Miss Elsie Smith read the following ad- dress, and Mrs. Duchemin presented them with a reading lamp.
