The August meeting of the W.M.S. of the United Church was held at the home of Mrs. Earl Dorrell, on Wed- nesday afternoon the 10th. Mrs, -C. Hill took charge of the worship period and read a very interesting letter from her sister-in-law Mrs. (Rev) Merle Ferguson of Africa. The Study Book chapter was taken by Mrs. N. Mount- joy. Mrs. Sinclair favoured with a solo, Mrs. KE. Dorrell with a reading, "Flowers" and Miss Norma Hooey with a violin solo. Lunch was served by the group in charge of the meeting with Mrs. E. Dorrell, convener. In the absence of Rev. H. Bell, the service in the United Church on Sun- day evening was taken by Mr. Forbes of Weston, who gave an educative and most interesting illustrated lecutre on Japan and China, The people of Cartwright are deeply appreciative of the beautiful basket of gladiolus which Mr. Alex. As she was walking across the kitchen floor after dark she walked into an open trap door and fell to the cellar floor. Dr. Baldwin of Brooklin, was called and found no fractured hones, but she was badly bruised and shaken up. Rev. and Mrs. W. E. Honey re- turned on Saturday from their holi- day trip.
