Mr. Cawker was born in Devonshire, England, ninety-five years ago, the sont of John Cawker and Elizabeth Blatchfort, He came to Canad with his parents when he was seven years of age.' The family settled in Bowa manville and established the butcher business which has been in operation for 88 years. Mr. S. .T. Cawker: moved to Port Perry in 1869, and opened the butcher business, being one of the village's first business men. He conducted the usiness,until about twenty years ago when he retired and turned the busi- ness over to his sons. But he was a' keen student of markets and kept thoroughly posted upon all public mat- He retained his faculties -until day of his'death. A man- of thoroughly dependable character, deceased stuck: by his prin- ciples; ofien-to his 'own financint foss: He was of a retiring nature, and did not fill any. public' office; but as a kindly neighbour and good citizen he will long be happily remembered by many friends and acquaintances.
