FARMER A pretty wedding was solemnized by Rev. John A Hiltz at Davenport Presbyterian church, Toronto, when Doris Jean Roach, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Roach, Toronto, became the bride of John F, Farmer, youpgest son of Mr, and Mrs. Samuel Farmer, Port Perry. The bride, given in marriage "by her" father, looked charming in a gown of white brocaded satin, made on princess lines with short train. She wore a full length veil falling from a heart-shaped coro- net, caught with orange.blossoms. She carried a sheaf of calla lilies. The bride was attended by Miss Alice Leather, Toronto, maid of honour, gowned in powder blue chiffon over taffeta, and wearing matching tiny French Flower hat, trimmed with tulle. The bridesmaid, Miss Evelyn Armstrong, Toronto, wore blush pink chiffon over taffeta with matching French flower hat, trimmed with tulle. They carried nosegays of pink car. nations. Harry Brooks, Port Perry, was best man. M. Boyd and Thomas Roach, Toronto, the ushers. - Jack Reid, cousin of the bride, sang "O Promise Me" during the signing of the régister. At a reception at Gray Gables, the bride's mother received dressed in navy blue sheer with white accessories, She wore a corsage of talisman roses. Thé groom's mother wore dusky rose with black access- ories and corsage of talisman .roses. After the reception, the happy couple left by motor for a honeymoon trip through eastern Ontario. They will reside in Port Perry. ---- te UNITED CHURCH W. M. 8. The April meeting of the W.M.S. was held in the S. S. room on Wed- nesday afternoon the 10th. The presi- dent, Mrs. Geo. Davey presiding. Miss IL. Stovin had charge of the devotional period assisted by Mrs, W. Real. Wé were favoured with a solo by Mrs. Peterson, Mrs, Z. M. Jackson reviewed a chapter in the study book on "Christian Education in India." The May meeting was held in the S. S. room on the 8th, with Mrs, G. Davey, presiding. Reports were re- ceived from the delegates to the con- vention in Oshawa on April 18th. Mrs. A. Brock gave a short talk on Christian Stewardship and What It Means. Mrs, S. A. Wallace gave a very in- teresting paper on "Facing the Future Task." Three barns were blown down, a number of chicken coops and' pig pen roofs were blown offy and many trees toppled. The barn on Joe Wilson's farm at Epsom, was blown down, as were John Chatterson's barn at Utica and Wm. Lock's on teh townline. Part of the barn on Geo. Hood's farm on Scugog Island, as ripped off.
