S. of the United Church was held at the home of Mrs, Jabez Wright with the devotional taken by Mrs, E. Dorrell. The program in charge of Mrs. Roy Taylor, was as follows: a piano solo by Miss Beryl Larmer, an interesting talk on "The World Situation" by Miss Ruth Honey, of Newcastle, a golo by Miss Vivian Saddler, a piano solo by Mrs. Gordon Strong and a reading "China's Christian Rulers" by Mrs. N. Mountjoy. At the close re- freshments were served and a vote of thanks tendered the hostess. Rev, E, P, and Mrs. Wood left on Wednesday to enjoy a well earned holiday at the Clergymen's Park, at Big Bay Point, Mr. Don Gillies, our local barber, has moved to Kis new shop between Camp's residepce. We are pleased to know that Miss Eva Parr is progressing favorably after her recent appendix operation in the Toronto General Hospital. The June meeting of the W. A. of St. John's Anglican Church was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harry McLaughlin with the. president Murs, E. P, Wood presiding. The meeting opened with hymn, Scripture reading by Birs! T. Argue and W. A "CIty and prayers led by the president. The Study Book chapter, "The Church in Evangelism" was taken by Mrs. T. Smith. The program in charge of Murs. F. Congratulations are 'extended to Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Eccleston on their re- cent marriage on Wednesday, June 26. in the Presbyterian Church, Oshawa. _ The bride was formerly Miss Annie Archer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jos. The members were deeply appreciative of Mrs. 'Switzer's kindness in holding a sing- ing class every Monday night' during the_winter, in the Continuation School. Mein Kampf ...... ~Country Lawyer The death; of Mrs, Albert Littler occurred on Wednesday, June 6th, in the Soldiers' Memorial Hospital at Orillia. Mr. and Mrs, Littler came from England many years ago to To- ronto, and later moved to Scugog, and a few years ago to Orillia. Mr. Littler passed away on June 16th, just 11 days after his wife and life partner-was-called away. Mr. Littler. was blind for 12 years. He was in his 81st year, and Mrs. Littler in her 82nd year. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Dodsley, Scugog, last August. ~ Fiye children mourn their passing: Wifliam and Mrs. A. Lang, Orillia; Mrs. J. Martin and Mrs. B. Gray, Toronto; Mrs. W. Dodsley, Scugog. Six grandsons acted as pall- bearers. Thirty-five Boy Scouts from St. Thomas Church, Toronto, are at Lake- side Beach, for two weeks, Glad to sce Miss Audrey Hood and Miss Dorothy Joblin at their homes here for the holidays.
