Jackson and son Stanley, of Union, N.J. have returned home after spending a short vacation with the doctor's mother, Mrs. Geo. Jackson, Port Perry. Pte. Albert Snoddon, of Toronto, was home on Tuesday. Messrs. A. Waridel and H. Gatenby left on Monday for Niagara Falls Camp, with the N.P.AM.,, Ontario Regiment. B His Majesty the King, has desig- nated Sunday, September 8, .the first Sunday after the anniversary of the outbreak of the war, as a national day of prayer. It should be well observed. Clough, who is leaving Port Perry to take up new work in conducted his farewell ser- vice in the Church of the Ascension on Sunday evening. The church was filled to capacity by admiring friends. Lhe greens were in excellent condition and the weather ideal for bowling. 'the games were not finished until quite late, but all the contgstants were satisfied that the evening was well spent, VW. Livingston of Cannington won first "prize which was the Rosevear Cup won by Peterboro last year. L~ W. Bell of Whitby came second and A. ALREBT WILLIAMS Annic M. Swanick, wife of 'Albert Williams, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, August Sth, at her home in Toronto. E Born in Reach Township near Ux- bridge, she was the youngest daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John_Swan- ick, and married Albert Williams of Port Perry, nearly thirty-four years ago. For a few years after her mar- riage she resided in-Woodstock, later moving to Toronto, where she has lived for many ycars. Rev. R. B. rane, who had been her minister for ten years, conducted the funeral service. He spoke in highest terms of her faithfulness in the home and in Grace United Church, of which she. was a member, and her cheerful, friendly nature which made her many friends. The funeral, which was largely at- tended, was held from Myers-Elliott| be funeral home to Park Lawn Cemetery. The many beautiful floral tributes spoke of the esteem in 'which she was held.
