CAVALCADE OF EUROPE In most vivid fashion the conditions existing in war-torn Europe were pictured in"Cavalcade of Europe" with accompanying address by Rex Frost. This informing picture and talk spon- sored by the LO.D.E. showed with terrible clearness the effect of this modern "war of fire" with which the Germans have -terrorized the unpre- pared democracies of Europe; and by means of which she hopes to demor- alize Britain. The far-reaching program of the Axis powers had cunningly lulled the people of Poland, Austria, Czecho- Slovakia, Holland, Belgium, Norway, into a false sense of security. The contrasting pictures of peace and war in these countries brought home with terrible clearness the suf- ferings of the ordinary people through war, and the ruthless destruction of all that mankind holds dear, particu- larly the simple homes and personal possessions of the people. The trek of refugees is a pitiful sight. Another, and most important fea- ture of the picture and talk, showed just what our defenders are under- going and the terrific risks they are taking-that we may enjoy safety and freedom. Port Perry community is indebted to Rex Frost and the LO.D.E. for bringing this necessary message to us. We cannot afford to be ignorant as to what is actually. going on in Europe. CARD OF THANKS Mr. Robert Hamilton and family wish to express to friends and neigh- bours their heart felt-thanks for kind- ness and sympathy tendered them during their recent bereavement.
