D.E, calendars were distributed to the Rural Schools of the surrounding com- munity as well as to the rooms of the Port Perry School. The 1.O.D.E. prizes, of books, were presented to the successful pupils of the Public School. The scholarship to the student ot highest standing at the end of second year in High School this year went to Marion Franklin of Manchester. During fourteen years it has been won by ten girls and four boys. This scholarship in the past has been_valued at $20.00 but as the pro- motion of education is one of the aims of the Imperial Order Daughters of the Empire, it was decided to increase this scholarship to $26.00 to encourage students to make the most of their op- portunities. Parents might call the attention of their children to this worth-while endeavour, The Christmas Cake draw was a success as usual, and the committee are grateful to those who showed in- terest in the work of the Order by buying a ticket. Over $76.00 was realized on this project. Letters of appreciation had been re- ceived from soldiers for "hussifs" sent them, and also letters of thanks for gifts sent to patients in "Orillia Hos- pital at Christmas time. An Executive meeting will be held in the Library on Monday, January 2717h at 3 p.m. All officers are asked to have thejr annual reports ready for presentation.
