The meeting was opened with an.Easter hymn after which Rev. D. M. Stinson gave the Bible study on "The Parable Mrs. Hooey took the 'Missionary Study--"Life and Work of Rev. Oliver Jackson in Newfoundland. Mrs. F. Stinson gave a detailed report of the Oshawa Presbyterial meeting held at Brooklin: A letter from Miss Laura Hambly, who has been a mis- sionary in China for neatly thirty years," was read by Mrs. R. Taylor. Duets were sung by Misses Joyce and Fern Campbell and by Mrs, E. Larmer and Mrs. J. Wright. The meeting was closed by prayer and benediction by Rev. Mr. Stinson. The congregation of the United shipped together in the latter's church on Good Friday at 7.30 p.m. with the rector Rev. E. P. Wood in charge of the service. Mrs. Wright and Mrs, Larmer assisted in the choir and sang a duet--No Cross, No Crown. Mrs. Anson Taylor received sixteon blocks as a result of a chain letter. Mrs. Herb)! 'Mr, Heyland gave a history of the Federation of Agriculture up to the organizing of the Durham County Federation which is fifteenth county in Ontario to organize. He also asked how many were in favour of legisla- tion to levy a tax of one-fifth of a mill on the assessment. : The majority favoured this means of financing the work of the Federa- tion. plete history of the Durham County meeting up to the present time. Mr. Summers spoke on testing soils, pastures, ®arc of dairy caitle, the labour question of today as concerns the farm, the new egg grading regula- tions and called our attention' to the fact that we would find valuable in- formation on the egg grading act in The Statesman of April 10th, Mr. Milburn stressed the fact that if farmers were going into the. Federa- tion of Agriculture with a chip on their shoulders; the thing would in time dic out, but if they were going into it to better their condition, to pull themselves up to a higher level, then there were great possibilities. He told of the London meeting and the meet- ing in Ottawa where the delegation was received by Prime Minister King and some of his colleagues apd some of the difficulties of the delegation. He warned those present to keep poli- tics out of this move or-it would be lost. 4 Politics has been the death of more than one farm oyganization. Let us be farmers first and then we can place polities'in its right place. He advised study groups and more education to get the farm populace to understand their organization and the problems facing the farm people today. Mrs. Jabez Wright favoured with a Mr. Devitt thanked the speakers and Mrs. Wright on behalf of the com- mittee and Mr, Bowles moved a vote of thanks to all taking part. - Next meeting will be Friday even- ing, May 9th, when Dr. J.
