A former resident of Port Peri Wililam P, Spence, who had lived in Whitby for the past twenty years, passed away on Sunday, September 7. He was a son of, the late William and Mary Pardon: Spence of Manchester and was well known .as a -house- builder. The death of his son Frank, who served in the First Great War and won a Military Cross, was a blow from which he never recovered. But it_was only a month ago that serious systemic trouble was detected aid only a week since he took to his bed. For two days prior to death he was in a diabetic coma from which he never recovered consciousness. He will be remembered by all who knew him as a good friend, a conscientious worker, and a loyal citizen, He is survived by his widow, the former Nellie Wildman, and. eight children: Darrell, of Victoria, B.C.; Bert, of Lansing, M Mich.; Gordon, of Stouffville; Ernest, of Toronto; Uni (Mrs. Gilbert Brown), and Irene (Mrs. Harold Hoigh), Battle Creek, Mich.; Ella (Mrs, Chas. Slack), of Beams- ville; and Ina (Mrs. Oliver Ford), of Lansing, Mich. A brother, Robert, of Toronto, and a_sister, Mary Ellen (Nellie), of Port Perry and Toronto, The funeral service was conducted by the Rev. Mr. United Church. Six personal friends, Messrs. E.
