Mr. and Mrs. A. We had a holiday on New Year's and went to East Grimstead, took in show and had dinner.in a café--a nice change, . .. The town in which we are now stationed is a pretty place, years old. A group of us were taken to visit the "Shell House" which is a few miles out of town, on the estate of the Duke of Richmond, whose resi- dence is now used as a hospital. The go called "Shell House" is made en- tirely of sea shells from the East Indies and the work was done by the Duchess and her three daughters, It took seven years to complete the work and ig just one room. Believe me, it is something worth seeing! The walls and ceiling are Pantin and patterned with different kinds of shells, in black, orange, pink--in fact all colors. The floor 1s inlaid with something you would never guess--horses teeth," no less! Believe it or not, it is certainly a beautiful piece of work and a rare thing to see."
