Allin, celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on Saturday last, May 16th, A number of friends called on Mr. 'and Mrs. Allin, and offered congratulations and best wishes. They were also the re- cipients of many beautiful flowers. Mr. and Mrs. Allin are enjoying very good health and we hope they may continue to do so. H. Nasmith On May 19th, Dr. Althouse, Dean of the College of kducation and D. S. woods, Dean of College of Education, Manitoba, visited the High School. I'he purpose of their visit was to in- spret a rural high school and Port Perry High School was recommended by the Deputy Minister of liducation. On May 29th the annual High School open night will. be® lield. The purpose of the open night is to display the work of the pupils and to afford visitors an opportunity to look into the school activities. Work of the pupils 1s displayed in various ways; posters are made to depict experiments in Chemistry and Agriculture; murals show the work of the History class; pupils of Home Economics and "shop classes 'will give demonstrations of actual classes. POLICEMAN PICKS QUIET HOME IN PORT PERRY (Toronto Star) A quict home in Port Perry, with "just enough work to keep me busy" will be the future life of George Holmes. Mr. Holmes, on June 1, is to resign his position as police constable with the Toronto Police Department, and plans to move to-Port Perry im- mediately. P.C. Holmes is proud of his record. He has given 37 continuous years' service in various police divisions of the city. ~ Four brothers of the Holmes family have piled up more than a century of service with "Toronto's Finest" A fwin brother, Joseph, of the retiring constable, spent ten years with the department, while the remaining 53 years were divided between P.C. Henry and Sergt. William Holmes. A music lover, P.C. George Holmes was one of the organizers of the To- ronto Police Silver Band, and played the cornet with the association, He is "also a member of the Toronto Police Association, joining when 'the group was organized, P.C. George Holmes' first assign- ment was as an ambulance driver. He spent the first 15 years' service an- swering emergency calls for the de- partment. The last seven years he has been assigned to Court Street Station.
