Miss Hazel Mountjoy read a humorous selection on a visit to a dentist, Mrs. Archer gave a demon- stration on winding yarn and read "A Warm Dress". Miss D. Perrett, teacher at Archer School, Cartwright, and the Jr. Red Cross, made $17 for their war work from tickets sold on an afghan. Mrs. Burney Hooey won the afghan, _ = Mis. G. Crawford won the. quilt which was made and donated by Mrs, Wood, The draw was made at the Anglican supper and entertainment on July, 1st. Forty-three dollars were made from the sale of tickets to be used for Red Cross work, . Died, on Thursday, July 2nd, at the home of .her daughter, Mrs, McKay, raven, Sask., in her 91st year, Sarah Elizabeth Lansing, .wife of the late John Lansing, Caesarea, and sigter of the late Wm. Aldred, Scugog Island: | She 'was 'the daughter of "Joel and Elizabeth = Aldred, who came from Nottingham, England, to Scugog Is- land, where Mrs. Lansing was born and lived until eight years after her marriage, 'When she moved to Caes- area. She lived there until moving to .Craven, where she lived for the past 19 years. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. R. P. Bowles, D.D,, in the United Church, Nestleton. Dr. Bowles based his remarks on the 19th Psalm which was a - suitable choice for one who had lived such a long and useful life as Mrs. Lansing. The pallbearers were Messrs. Mel- ville Lansing, Herman Hooey, Leslie Lansing, Wm. Lamb, Joel Aldred and John Aldred. Surviving are one daughter Emma (Mrs, McKay; two sons, Russell, Toronto, and Nelson, of London; five grandsons and one granddaughter, and.three great grand children. . The regular meeting of the W. A. was held at the home of Mrs. S. Ward, on Thursday afternoon, July 2nd, with Mrs. L. G. Brown, presiding. The meeting was opened with the de- votional exercises, the lesson thoughts being taken by Mrs. C. Croxall, A thank you note was read from a member who had been ill. Fifty dol- lars was voted to the church fund. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. J. L. Dobson. Mrs. - Corless Ashenhurst _took charge of the following program: Hymn, "Onward Christian Soldiers"; reading "Padres in the Service" by Mrs. C. Ashenhurst; solo, Noreen Croxall; reading, "Prayer in Britain" by Mrs. R. Paradine. The meeting closed with the National Anthem. Lunch was served by Mrs, R. Para- dine; Mrs, Mills, Mrs. S. Ward. A picnic' supper prepared by the ladies was enjoyed by all. After supper the company was called to- gether by Mr. A. Claughton, who ex- pressed words of welcome to those present. Words of appreciation were expressed to Mr. and Mrs, Dobson our host and hostess for their hospitality. A few timely and pleasant remarks were given by members of the clan-- Mr. and Mrs. A. W.
