AUDREY KENT Port Perry Phone 58 Public School Open Day The annual Open Day of Port Perry Public School will be held in the As- sembly Hall of the High School at 2 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 19th, There OBITUARY Mrs. William Cook Mrs. William Cook, who died in her 79th year, on Monday, May 36d, 1943, was born-in Dorsetshire, England, the daughtér of Mr. and Mrs, James Moore. The family moved to Canada when the children were quite young, and settled on Scugog Island in 1883. Mr. Moore had farmed in England, and on James Graham, The family lived on Scugog for man years. In December 1890, Rosa Alice, the eldest daughter, married William1 Cook, of Port Perry. They took .up housekeeping in the house in which they lived for fifty years. Four children were born to them-- Florence (Mrs. William McClintock) of Port Perry; Muriel of Toronto; Vera (Mrs. Wilkinson) of Uxbridge; and Ethel at home, Her husband and children, and her sister, Mrs. A. H. Rose, survive the deceased lady. Thyee great interests occpuied the attention of Mrs. Cook's life--her home, the Church of the Ascension, and the patriotic work of the town. She was a Charter Member of the 1.0.D.E,, a Society that grew out of the Women's Patriotic Assoeiation that was formed here during the first World War. In the LO.D.E. she be- came standard bearer. . In the Church of the Ascension she was a faithful member, and for many years was Superintendent of the' Jr. Guild. Mrs. Cook's memory will be honored by our townspeople, especially by those who knew the practical manner in which she proved her loyalty to her hame, her church, and her coun- try. The sympathy of the community is extended to the bereaved family. The funeral service was held in the Church of the Ascension, and was con- ducted by Rev. William Stocks.
