Walker, of Port Perry, passed away May 13th, 1943, at the hone her daughter, Mrs, W. A, Nelson, Brampton, Ont. of Mio. Walker, who was in her 83rd vear, was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs, Robert Robertson, and was Lorn at Pickering, Ontario. She at- tended DeMille Ladies' College, Osh- aw, where she studied art, clocution, and musie, ; Following her marriage to Edward A. Walker in 1884, she resided on their farm near Utica; but spent the inter vers of her life in Port Perry. Mrs Walker died in 1031 Four of their chided n survive their mother, 19. This was followed by a sér- vice in the Port Perry United Church. These services were conducted by Rev. W. C. Smith, and by Rev. W. J, H. Smyth, of Blenheim, his former Pastor. Interment was made in Pine Grove Cemetery, Prince Albert. + UTICA The annual meeting of the Utica Red Cross was held in Memory Hail on Monday evening, May 10th. LIONS CLUB Port Perry Lions enjoyed -a meeting with District Secretary Bruce Malcolm. His address was most helpful. Eleven scduts received their Second Class badges from Mr, Jones; Two Wolf Cubs received the House Orderly _ proficiency badge. There was no Cub competition held. The funeral serviee was conducted at the family residence, and was con- ducted by her minister, Rev. W. C. Smith. Interment was made in the Byreadalbane Church Cemetery, Utica, ASD MR. ALBERT W. Myr. Albert Allin died on Monday, May 10th, 1943, at his home in Port Perry, in his 86th year, after an ill- ness of many months, Ie was born in Utica, January Gth, 1858, being the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Allin. When he grew to young man- hood, he went to learn his trade as a blacksmith and carriage maker, He married Annie Louisa Claughton May 16th, 1883. Had he lived six more days, he woul have seen his dinmond wedding day. For a while Mr, and Mrs. Allin lived in Oshawa; but came to Port Perry ii 1885, where Mr. Allin set up business for himself in what is now known as Switzer's blacksmith shop. He did general blacksmithing, horse shoeing, and built biggies and cutters, - After some years at this business, he gave it up in 1908, : He was a Veteran of thé War of 1914-1918, Mr. Allin. will be chiefly remem- bered as a faithful member of the Me- thodist and later the United Church. Inthe Methodist Churé¢h he was a Class Leader and a Sunday School teacher. In the United Church he was an Elder, and a member of the Offiein] Board. Hope the weather will be very nice to coax the ladies out for a walk or a motor ride, The Head Community Club will be held. in the Head Church and Tea Room-on Wednesday evening, May 26, with the program committee being Joyce Reader, Myrtle Dowson, George Samells and Gerald Colleran. Every- one come and have a social time to- gether," ~ The Woman's "Association was held in the Town Hall on Tuesday after- noon. Although the rain came all day there was a good attendance. The meeting opened by the President, Mrs. C. L. Fralick, with singing and prayer. Mrs. R. Hood read the Scripture les- son; Mrs. R. Burnham read a chapter in the Girl Bride book. Mrs, D. Hope Mrs, Oir Jeffrey and Miss Marjorie Milner are the program committee for next meet: in and Mrs, Orr Jeffrey will read the Girl Bride book. A pretty apron, which was given to the president to be passed around for each to sew on a patch with a donation under the patch, was discussed, When the patches are all on, it will be given to the W.A. = An easy way to raise funds, A donation of $5.00 was to be sent to the Missionary Society. The meeting closed in the usual way. A meat pie supper was then served to a large crowd, who enjoyed it. The sup- per was s served by Group 7 -- Mra. cently. : Mrs. Elmer Lee spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Lee at Greenbank. Mr. and Mrs. Vernon and son Mur- ray of Port Perry, visited Mr. F. Clark and Doris on Sunday. Miss Jean Hood spent a pleasant long week-end with friends in Toronto, Mr, John Cobert and his mother have returned to their home here from Oshawa, Mrs. Colleran and Dilan Colleen and Allan spent the woek-end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs, A. Black in Oshawa. Mr, Eddie Steer of Utica, is spend- ing the summer months helping Mr. Roy Hope. Sympathy is extended to Mr, Geo. Schell and daughters Blanche (Mrs, Alton Mark) and Olive (Mrs, George Ormiston) in the passing of a wife and mother, who was formerly Maud Pettit. She had had poor health for several years and was called to her home beyond while visiting her daugh- ter Olive at Raglan. The funeral was ld from her home in Port Perry on Tuesday, May 11th, when Rev. W. C. Smith said many words of comfort to the bereaved family. Besides her Vernon Graham, Doris Clark and 'Beth Fralick have left High School to help their parents. Mr, Murray Clark, of Toronto, is spending a couple' of weeks at his home here.
