RB _Alnuts RA 1 D Rield Secretary of the British and Foreign Bible Society, gave the sermon in the Presbyterian Church at 11 a.m. and an address and moving pictures of the work in Africa at the evening service in the United Church. was well received at both these ser- vices. 87th Anniversary On Sunday, June 6th, the Church of the Ascension (Anglican) celebrated the 87th Anniversary of the founding of the Parish. The morning service was conducted by the Ven. Wm. Simp- son, Archdeacon of Peterborough. The special music for the Communion Ser- vice was written by Maunder. At the evening service, Rev. J, D. Patterson, B.A., of Christ Church, in Oshawa, was in charge. He based his remarks on "And they hazarded their lives for Christ"; saying that we should remember what sacrifices our ancestors made to build the Church by continuing our faith and by setting an example for the younger genera- tion to follow, The music for the evening service consisted of special hymns, psalms, and responses and the anthem sung by the choir, "Hail! Gladdening Light!" Mrs, F. McClintock presided at the organ for both services.
