JOHN'S PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH ; + The Re-dedicatory services of St. John's Presbyterian Church in" Port Perry were held on Sunday, September 26th. Large congregations enjoyed the keenly, practical and spiritually helpful sermons given by the Rev, F, G. Vesey, of Toronto Bible College, formerly minister of Parkdale Presby- terian Church; also special music by Mrs. Langford, Miss Margaret Lang, and Miss Kathleen Powers, all of To- ronto; Miss Helen Willard and Mrs. Marion Orde, of Port Perry, former organist, - : At the morning service the Anglican Church of the Ascension, which with- drew its service, joined the congrega- tion, whilg in the evening the United [Church niembers came in a beds, to help colebrate the re-opening of the church, after a most thorough job of repair and re-decorating from bottom to top, had been completed, ~The members' of 'St., John's are just- ly proud of their achfevement, which ook about a year to accomplish. The Sunday School room and kitchen were renovated and beautifully decordtéd last fall; and also the outside of the special 'donations an electric pumper was installed for the pipe organ. Dur- ing the past summer, the auditorium, vestry and. halls were complétely and artistically beautified in ivory effects the body of the church, walls an ceiling, being finished in a modern manher, by placing in pattern, pieces of donnaconna board of different sizes and shades of colour, The appoint- ment of the pulpit and choir are in rich wine tones, giving a strikingly beautiful appearance to the whole, A feature of the undertaking which is a source of material satisfaction and spiritual -joy. to those who have expended a gredt deal of time and per- 'sonal effort on its accomplishment, is the fact that all has been paid for and no debt results from the marvellous improvement in their place of worship. Rev. J, A. MacMillan, the minister, expressed: his thanks for and a - ciation of their efforts, Rev. W. C. Smith of the United Church was pre- sent and assisted at the evening ser- vice. Williams, Once again we have been called up- to all who knew her. _ In the passing of Mrs. William Ettey, on September 23rd, Prince Al- bert has lost one that will be_greatly missed, for she took time to stop in, if only for a few minutes in so many homes in the village, for a little chat "| which did one good, for Mrs, -Ettey had an exceptionally cheerful manner, and was always jovial. Though at times she might not feel too well her- sclf, she never was glum. Especially the sick and shut-ins she remembered by passing along to them her books and magazines. It is a comforting thought when we remember her unselfish Yife. The funeral at the A, L. McDermott fun- eral parlours, was largely attended, and was conducted by her pastor, Rev, William Stocks; asgisted by Rev. W. C. Smith, The pallbearers 'were: Messrs.-John Jeffrey, B. Smith, W.
