Miss Ruth Thompson, of Toronto, and Mr. Harry Brookes, of Weston, were visitors during the week-end at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Brookes. Mrs. Salkheld, of Caledonia, and Miss Margaret Salkheld, of Christie Street Hospital, Toronto, were guests for a few days last week with the former's sister, Mrs. M. E. Morrison. JUNIOR WAR WORKERS. There is" only one regret in the minds of each and every Scout and that is the fact that the quality of the apples this year was not up to the true Scout standard. roa However we trust that you will accept our apologies and next year we will endeavour to do better, Port Perry Boy Scout Association. -------- ewe Young People's Union The members of the Y.P.U. spent a very happy time on Tuesday evening when their annual Hallowe'en -Mas- querade Party was held, Everyone gathered at the Church, and upon entering, met the King and -Queen-and-each one had- to sit-down} for a short chat. Most of the visits were shorter than had 'been antici- pated when a tingling sensation was experienced. After everyone arrived, the judging of costumes was held, he judges were - Reta Wilson, Irene Mulligan, Flying Officer Bruce Beare and Rev. W. C. Smith. Those winning prizes were; Best Dressed Girl--Dorothy Tris- tram. Best Dressed Boy--Bruce Ger- row. Best Dressed Couple--Kay Da and Helen Hayes. Best Dressed Girl, 16.and under--Donna Crosier. Best Dressed Boy, under 15--Ted Griffen, Beat.Comic--Jack Whitmore. All lights were then extinguished and a ghostly story of the Haunted! House was read, after which all were taken on a trip through the rooms of the Haunted House where ghosts swooshed around, leering at the crowd. On returning to the Church, the rest of the evening was spent playing .ganies, fortune telling, sing-song, and a lunch of sandwiches, apples and sweet cider, was served. The October meeting of the Evening Auxiliary of the United Church was held-in the Sunday School room with Mus. S. Griffen presiding. After the business period, Miss G. Stovin and her group gave a splendid chapter of our new study book entitled, "For All of Life", by Mr..and Mrs. Wiser; which promises to be a very interest- ing book for the coming year. Mrs. E. Jackson fagoured us with a piano solo- which was much enjoyed. Plans are under way for the annual W.M:S. Banquet to be held carly in November at which we hope to have Mrs. Bryce, returned missionary from India, as guest speaker, who is also the mother of Miss Bryce, our High School teacher. Allin, in honour of her recent marriage. Miss Annie Webster, as- sisted by Mrs. Richard Woon and Mrs. DeShane, received the guests.
