Ghannell, A hymn was sung, after which Reta Wilson led in prayer. The Scripture passage was read by Kay Day, and a hymn was sung. The guest speaker of the evening, Miss Margaret Stuart, was introduced by Jack Whitmore and she spoke on the "Customs of India". - Miss Stuért began by telling of the trip to India, crossing the Pacific Ocean and stop- ping at Japanese and Chinese ports, Singapore, Penang and thence to Cal- cutta. Customs about which Miss Stuart spoke were funerals, weddings, } business, wild animals, snakes, the division of the peoples into classes, ete. Miss Stuart spoke very naturally and interspersed the topics with odd bits of humour. It took practically no imagination at all to picture the squalidness and dif- ficulties which must be undergone and then what beauty one must behold on viewing. the Himalayas and the pic- turesqueness of the celebrations. At the conclusion of her topic, Miss Stuart showed some of the costumes, bits of jewellery, money and other oddities brought from India. It was, too, that he was a great friend of Mr, Taylor, as well as being u yeal pal to the children.
