The meeting was opened with Call to Wor- ship, which was the first verse of the hymn, "From Ocean unto Ocean." The theme for the meeting was "The Elessing of Country and Free- dom." Bible reading, Deut. 8, taken by Mrs. Harvey Real, after which Mrs. McMaster led in prayer. The poem, "Breathes there a man, etc." was read by Mrs. Wallace McMillan, The topic, "Canada, her resources and privileges" was given by Mrs. Harvey Real. The resources of Canada she took under the following headings: Agriculture, Forestry, Fisheries and Mining.,, She also emphasized the rapid growth of Canada's exports and imports. =~ The privileges in Canada are granted to its people more than -in any other country in the world and should be guarded and valued. After the singing of hymn 519, Rev, Thos. Wallace led in prayer. He also gave an address, speaking words of encouragement to the women, During the program Mrs. Harvey Real and her daughter Joan played a duet, and Joan Till gave an instrumental, ~A dainty lunch was served by the group in charge--Mrs. H. We hope the weather man will send us fine weather, The funeral of the late Alfred Me- Kenzie was héld on Thursday at the McDermott Funeral Chapel, where many friends and relatives gathered to pay their last respects. Mr. Me- Kenzie was born in England 67 years ago and came to Toronto when a young man. Mr. and Mrs. McKenzie came to Scugog about thirty years ago. While here tHey built the lovely home where Mr. McKenzie passed away. Rev. J. A. Miller spoke many words of comfort to the bereaved wife who will mourn his passing. He is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Good- win, of Toronto. The body was laid to rest at Pine Grove Cemetery. The sympathy of the community-is extend- ed to the bereaved. Mr. and Mrs, David Miller and Mr. Alan Sweetman and daughter Ann, of Toronto, are spending a few weeks at the home of Mr. and Mrs. G. Sweet- man, Mr. George Samells has his barn all finished and it looks fine. The green pea threshing is finished. Misses Margaret Bratley and Lois Jeffrey have been very faithful work- ers. They put in the full time. Miss Laura Prentice returned to her home at Epsom, on Sunday after a week with her cousin Miss Edna Pren- tice. > Miss Grace Dewars has returned to her work in Toronto, after a couple of weeks with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.
