ane SMENETS Pad he Ls EN SN El The June meeting of the W.A. was held on the 27th at the home of Miss Barlow with a good attendance. Mrs. MacGregor, presided, and opened the meeting with hymn 168. Mrs. W. C. Smith gave the Scripture reading, which was taken from Psalm 72, and spoke a few words, based on the sub- ject, "Dominion". Prayer was offered by Mrs, S. Farmer. The program committee for the next meeting are Mrs. Perry and Mrs. M. Clark. During the business period, a war- workers quilting and tea were plan- ned. A motion carried that we get the ceiling of the Church kitchen re- paired. For the program, Mrs. Robertson, recently of Peterborough, gave a fine talk, her subject being, "Time Tables", after which several ladies and Rev. Mr. Smith went to the lawn and play- ed croquet. The lovely lunch consisted of strawberries (donated by the hos- tess) and cream, home-made cakes. Dues and collection, $10.39. Mrs. A. Smith and grandson, of To- ronto, are spending some time at Miss Edna Spence's home here. Mr, and Mrs. B. Snelgrove and Bob- by, and Mrs. A. Harper and other friends returned last week from a motor trip to Montreal and Ottawa. Mr. F. Young and daughter Phyllis are in Toronto for a few days. Mr. and Mrs. W. Regan are holi- dying at their home here. iss B. Barlow, of Toronto, is with her sister Miss Isobel Barlow. Mrs. A. V. Groupe, of Philadelphia, U.S.A., is spending the summer months at her home here. Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Butson spent several days in Toronto last week. Congratulations are. due Mr. Elmer Wagg in the beautification of his home. Mr. and Mrs. Wess and daughters Jean and Donna, of Norwood, are spending their holidays with relatives in the village. SCUGOG Rev. F. G. Joblin, who has moved to Port Perry, had an'enjoyable time on Saturday afternoon at the home of Mr. John Milner. = Three birthdays were celebrated, that of Mr. Joblin, Yvonne "Milner, for the 7th of July, and little three year old Linda Fralick. Many happy returns of the day to all. Mrs. Wm. Jackson, of Reach, spent the week-end with her daughter, Mrs. Murray McLaren, and enjoyed meet- ing many old friends at Church on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Sanguine, Joyce and Donald, of Pleasant Point, were Sunday guests of their niece Mrs. Joe Dowson, Mr. Kenneth Hope returned home from Northern Saskatchewan, where he has been for the past couple of years, Scugog friends were sorry to hear of the loss of 13 cattle killed by the electrical storm recently, for Crozier brothers, Mrs. A. Crooks of Toronto, is spend- ing a few weeks with her daughter, Mrs, Fred Jackson, We are sorry to hear that Mr. Crooks is in the hospital in Toronto. We wish for him a speedy recovery. - Mrs. D. Hope and Shirley accom- anied Mr. Robt, Prentice, Edna, and atsy, home from Church on Sunday, for the afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Keyes, of Oshawa, were Sunday visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Alex. Martyn. Congratulations to Mary Lou Pearce and Jean Wilson on passing their en- trance examinations. Billie and Bobbie Jones, Highland Creek, are spending a few days with Mr, and Mrs, Ray Hobbs. Mr. R. Brekie and friend Mr, Fred MacGregor, who have been visiting the former's sister, Mrs. E. Prentice, are returning to their homes in Sas- katchewan this week. Mr. Allan Hope accompanied his sister Mrs. Tom Mann and her hus- band to Niagara on Sunday. They saw Red Hill go down the river in a barrel. Congratulations to Miss Jean Sam- ells on passing Grade III piano ex- aminations with first class honours. Jean is a pupil of her mother, Mrs. G. Samells. The Crosier [sa Re-Union The fourteenth re-union of the Crosier Family was held on Saturday, July 7th, 1945, at "Elm Hill Farm", the home of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Samells, on Scugog Island. Although the day was cool and showery, a most enjoyable time was spent by over one hundred guests who were present from Stratford, Toronto, Pickering, Oshawa, Whitby, Locust Hill, Uxbridge, Stouffville, Trenton, and other places. The afternoon was spent with some chatting and renewing old acquaint- ances while others enjoyed a program of sports, . The tables were arranged on the lawn, and everyone sat down to enjoy the many good things prepared for the occasion, In the election of officers, Mr. Gor- don Crosier, of Toronto, was again chosen president; Mr. Geo. Samells, of Scugog, Vice-President; and Mrs. W. Slack, of Stouffville, Sec'y-Treasurer. Mrs, Wilson, of Uxbridge, won the prize for being the eldest lady present, Mr. Geo. Prentice, Port Perry, the eldest gentleman, and little Ronald Bruce Kennedy, Port Perry, the youngest child. It was nice to see Elwood Crosier at the re-union again, Elwood has been overseas for five years. Three deaths have occurred during the year, Mrs. Wm. Crosier, London; Mrs, Geo, Prentice and Mrs. Wright Crosier, Port Perry. Four weddings have taken place-- Mr. and Mrs. Clare Vernon, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Vernon, of Prospect; Mr. and Mrs, Bruce Beare, Port Perry, and Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Wilson, of Trenton, the latter winning the prize for the newest married couple. After supper a brief entertainment was given consisting" of duets by Aileen and Patsy Lane, Columbus; Jean and Donna Samells, Scugog.
