Since that she has been in Trinidad, and has been a household science teacher in a Home-making School for girls. She told us that the need for missionaries, first seen by a young man by name of Martan who went to Trinidad for his health and who saw the grefit need for missionaries to the East Indians in Trinidad, who were brought there as indentured labour. Religion among this people chiefly Hindoo and Mo- hammedan, The first mission was started by the Presbyterian Church of the Maritime Provinces in 1868. About ten per cent. of these people are Christians at the present time. Miss Saunders wore a pin made of pure gold in the shape of a map of Trinidad Island, which was presented to her by the girls of the school. The island now has three girls' High Schools in addition to the Homemak- er"s School where Miss Saunders is a teacher -and she reports great inter- est in education for girls, several of whom have won scholarships of dis- tinction' and are studying in Canada, Great Britain and the 'United States.
