Nott Visits Her Mother (South Wales Angus) For the first time in twenty years grey-haired Mrs. Elizabeth Hoare, of 44 Dean Street, a widow for two years had her six children around her --to_ celebrate her ecightieth birthday --and during the week-end fifty friends gathered at her home to mark the occasion. hat Most of her. friends were from Duckpool Road Baptist Church, with which Mrs, Hoare has been associated for 54 years, since she first" went to live in Dean Street. Present at the party were the three oldest ladies in Dean Street--Mrs. Hoare, 84 year old | Mrs. Munch, and 78 year old Mrs. M. James. The family re-union after so many years was made possible by the re- turn. of one of Mrs: Hoare's three daughters, Mrs. Gwendoline Nott who went to Canada 30 years ago -and_ig- paying her first visit to this country since then. Other -members of the family at the reunion were Messrs, Jack and Ray Hoare, of Newport, Percy Hoare from Swindon, and: the two other daughters Mrs. G. Palmer, Birmingham, and Mrs. F. (Taylor, Newport. i Mrs. Nott, whose husband died 18 years ago, flew home to nurse her mother after an operation but Mrs. Hoare is now completely recovered. Mrs. Nott, who lives in Port Perry, Ontario; hag one daughter and two 'sons, all married. Her one son came to this country with the Forcés during the War and was married in Newport. During -her years of absence she has kept in touch with Newport through the South Wales Argus which her mother sent to her every week. Nearly everyone was in costume, many weird and comical. Mr, Smith, assisted by Bob Storry, acted as judges in the judging of costumes. The winners were: Best Dressed Couple -- Mary Wilson and Helen Lane. Best Dressed Girl -- Carol Sweetman, Best Dressed Boy--How- ard Hall. One of the highlights of the even- ing was the visit to "The House -of Horrors" which was very spooky in- deed. Other activities were ducking for apples and a wincing game. Re- freshments were served consisting -of sandwiches, cake, and soft drinks. We would like to thank those responsible for such an enjoyable evening.
