AUDREY-KENT 1" Phone 58 Prince Albert A pleasant-time was spent at the home of Mr, and Mrs. W. J. Martyn when group No. 4 of the Woman's Association entertained at a social evening, on Friday last. Rev. W. C. Smith was agked to be chairman and offered prayer. Community singing followed with Mrs. B. Snelgrove at the piano. Mr. Snelgroove delighted us with violin music, "Danny Boy" and an encore. = A reading by Miss Gillie was much enjoyed. Mrs. Newn- ham conducted two contests. The highlight of the evening was moving pictures shown by Mr. Snelgrove, and Port Perry to whom we extend our utmost thanks |- for his endeavour. While lunch was being prepared, ' Mrs. Grant Hunter kindly entertained "at the piano. Rev. Mr. Smith thanked Mr. and Mrs. Martyn for opening their home and to all who helped to make a very happy evening. We might just mention here the proceeds are to help renovate the kitchen floor at the church which is badly needed. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Mark, To- ronto, visited Mr. and -Mrs. Wm. J. Martyn, recently. > A sociable time was held in 'the "Public School on Saturday night when 'nine tables of progressive euchre were played, and conducted by Mr. Doupe. Prize winners were Mr, Seely, Mr. K. Fralick (substituting for a-lady, Little Miss Garvey), and Mr. E. Martyn. Lucky chair prize donated by -Mr. Cawker was" won by Mrs. Case. Among those present from Oshawa were Mr. T. D. Thomas, M.P.P,, dnd Mrs. Thomas. Proceeds of evening are to go-to the new hospital. McKerihen spent awhile with friends in Toronto recently. We appreciated having the Misses Wray and St, John coming from Port Perry and singing duets, accompanied by Mrs. W. C. Smith, at the Church service, on Sunday.
