The meeting was in charge of the President, -Mrs, Joseph Cathcart, of Bobcaygeon, Murs. Clarence Veale, Woodyille, Mrs. W. W. Finney and Mrs. Joseph Cathcart gave very interesting re- ports from the Synodical Meeting. A letter was read by-Murs. Steele, Cor- responding Secretary, from Miss Lundia MacBeth, Toronto Synodical Corresponding Secretary, expressing appreciation for the invitation to hold the Synodical Meeting in Lindsay next year. The Semi-Annual Meeting will be held in Kirkfield. Mrs. W.-W .Fin- ney solicited all possible help we can get from each Auxiliary to make the Synodical Meeting a success. A let- ter was read by Mrs. Steele from Mrs. Burgess, Library Secretary, who was unable to be present at the meet- ing. Cheer was brought to many by the Welcome and Welfare Committee. Of special interest were the activities of Presidents of the Presbyterial, and helpful suggestions were given. Glenarm Mission Band delighted the gathering with their singing. Mrs. (Rev.) Putnam and Mrs, Lee sang a duet, accompanied by Mrs. J. E. Nesbitt. - The devotions were ably taken by North Eldon Auxiliary, and Fenelon Falls Auxiliary. Miss Agnes Dickson, Hon. President of Lindsay Presby- terial, stated our task and our purpose and our supreme desire is to accom- plish God's work. Mrs. Inglis Jamieson welcomed the ladies of Glenarm. = Greetings were extended from Presbytery by Rev. Mr, Wilson, Beaverton, A new Auxiliary was reported at Fenelon Falls.- Mrs. Cathcart's help would gladly be given any congrega- tion wishing to. form a Mission Band. We covet the children to give testi- mony for our Lord and Master. Mrs. Brown, Supply Secretary, re- quested money for supplies to be sent in by June 16th, and bales to be sent the first week in September, Mrs. Summerfeldt hoped for greater effort in Home Helpers' work. The Presby- terial Treasurer, Mrs. John Brabazon, reported remittance of $1169.00. Miss Winnifred Allin, Life Membership Secretary, reported seven members and two Junior memberships were honoured with presentgtion cer- tificates. The highlight of the- meeting was the challenging message given by Rev. Mr. Wilson, Beaverton, formerly a missionary in India. Mr. Wilson expressed great pleasure in seeing such a massive crowd present at the meeting. He stated that tre- mendous revolutionary changes are taking place in India since the British flag was taken down and India was given to her own people who are in need of food. Everyone in India thought. economic conditions and everything would change, but -today India's millions realize the Heaven on earth does not come that way. Peo- ple are saying to the Indian Govern- ment "Why are you not doing the things you promised us, and asking when are the British Government coming back?" Ten million people in India are only getting one meal every day, and that meal consists of a plate of poor rice. Russia is supply- ing food to these people, but will in future expect their country in return payment. In spite of the disappoint- ment every report indicates India is open for the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ, and is turning to God. Our Bible women are doing great work in India. A very large percentage of India's population is illiterate. The work of the missionaries is to teach in erder to fit and prepare leaders for the Church. Our main job is equip- ping for leadership, preparing for the day the missionaries may have to leave India as they have China, . Mrs, Cathcart thanked 'Mr, Wilson, and urged the W.M.S. to re-dedicate our lives, pray more, talk more, about faithful afternoon' our work on Mission 0. Meclnnis, Kirkfield, conveyed thanks to our highly esteemed Presi- dent, Mrs. Joseph Cathcart, 'to Mr. Wilson for his inspiring message, to the Glenarm ladies for their hospital- ity, to Miss Dickson, the Mission Band, soloists, and all who had taken part in this . inspiritional and worthwhile meeting, ; 'Our president's closing remarks re- vealed her pleasure in attending the meeting as our President of the best organization in the world, her appre- ciation to Glenarm Auxiliary, the soloists and Mission Band, - This happy meeting. was brought to a close nam, a M, MacFarlane; ~ Press Secretary, Lindsay Presbyterial, Service Club Members of the Service Club are re- minded that the next meeting will be at the home of Mrs. Emily Badour in the form of a pot luck supper~ The officers for the next term in the fall will be elected. . et ---- Obituaries MRS.
