CANADIAN FILM SHORT Studios' latest Cameo short subject re- Associated Screen Canadian | lease, "Spotlight No. 2," contains a wealth of information -and little known facts concerning odd Cana- diana. How many Canadians know that there is a town in their country that has streets literally paved with gold --which has more taxis per capita than any other spot in Canada, and yet these cabs have only seven miles of raods on which to travel? The town is Yellowknife in the North West Territories, whose streets are con- structed of low-grade gold ore! Featured in the reel is John Pratt, inimitable Canadian Comedian, who gives a whimsical and humorous re- sume of his life, ending up with a new twist to his hilarious Navy Show song hit, You'll Get Used To It! . The camera. then covers the social activities of a group of human sky- scrapers, who have banded together into an organization known as the Tip Toppers Club, of Toronto. The prime requisite for admission into this .unique Club is height -- and plenty of it! .to tower to 6' 2" or better, target for the fairer sex is 5 8" and up. The reel then throws a spotlight on some faces that are being scanned every hour of the day--unusual clock faces in different cities and centres in Canada. . "Spotlight No. 2" not only affords ten minutes of quick-moving enter- tainment, it is instructive as well. This new film was directed by Gor- don Sparling, veteran Canadian film- maker. Camermen responsible for the footage were Jack Hynes, of Mon- treal, and Doug. Skene, of Toronto. The background musical score, was under the direction of Lucio Agostini, and commentary was handled by La- mont Tilden, .of the C.B.C. The improved comparison for the single month of- May involved an unusual drop that month the number killed by non-collision' or fixed object accidents. Victims of two-vehicle collisions were also fewer, as were those killed in level crossing crashes. How- ever the number motoreyele, bisycle -and pedestrian victims was higher this May than last. Out of 61 traffic fatalities last month, 17 were children age o- 1-1).
