Port Perry High School,. the visiting junior boys were edged out by the home cagers 80-24, while the Port sertiors came out on the short end of a 89-26 tally. . "In the initial exhibition, the Port Juniors seemed to have an off day and despite the fact that they rolled up thirty points over the forty minutes of play, Don Hadden was the only local who seemed to be 'up' for the contest, Heading the victors' offen- sive were Hadden with 10 points, Owen with 8, Warriner and Peel with 4 each. Leading the Lindsay attack, which fell short by six points only were Graham with 10 pts, Rowland and Teel with 4 each, while Truax tallied five. 3 With the teams slated to tangle again, this time on the much larger playing surface at the Lindsay High |. School, a much better contest is an- ticipated, The senior contest was a much better exhibition of basketball with McDuffee of the visitors being the most outstanding figure on the floor as he tallied 18 points. The best the locals had to offer was the 10 points amassed by Norm Haugen who with Peel and Sulman led a determined of- fense. However the visitors put up an almost impregnable defense that had the local.attack baffled especially when lanky. McDuffee was_on for Lindsay. The latter seemed to grab off rebounds and passes at will and while his general play was above av- erage, his six foot three height really was the difference. Graham also turned in a sparkling effort for Lind- say -and accounted for 10 of their scoring points, As for the girls' games which were league tilts played at Lindsay, the jr. girls dropped their contest 12-19 but the senior lassies from Port edged their Lindsay rivals 21-19 in a real thriller, Fpr the winning Lindsay cagers of the initial contest, Donna Britnell with five baskets and Eunice Worsley with 9 points were the big guns. on the offense while Mayrene James of Port Perry tallied 6 points in a losing cause. 'In the senior tilt Mayrene James who had led the junior attack for Port returned to lead the seniors and emerged as the star of the day. May- rene James with 8 points, Georgia Brock with 7, and Doris DeNure with 5 were outstanding for the victorious | Port Sr. lassies. High scorer for the i EAR , . | ha A 5 Wore sina allt oS ' game was Marie Rich of Lindsay who | with Anne Ward and Grace Worsley , (the latter two girls contributing 6 points each tallied all the losers' total, i The "Annual "AT HOME" of the 'ONTARIO COUNTY .
