Before passing such a by-law: the Council has decided to obtain thé as- sent of the electors, The 'borrowing will be upon the credit of the Corporation and the pro- posed by-law will provide for the issue of debentures bearing interest at the rate of four and one-half per cent. per annum payable annually, The debt will be paid in twenty annual in- stalments of approximately $13,472.32 each including principal and interest. On the basis of exiting grants which are not guarante§d, the Provin- cial government will gdntribute about forty percent. of the annual instal- ments. The annual sum required to retire the proposed debentures shall be raised by a special rate sufficient therefor to be levied over and above all other rates upon all the rateable property in the Municipality of the Village of Port Perry assessed to public school supporters and upon the basis of the present assessment and assuming that the Provincial grants each year amount to forty per (cent. of the amount required to be raised, it is estimaed that an annual levy of approximately 6.61 mills will be necessary, I certify that the above is a correct statement of the question to be sub- mitted to the clectors and if the assent of the electors is obtained it will be; taken into consideration by the Coun- | cil after one month from the date hereof. Christie on Mon- day, April 14th, after only a few hours illness. Mrs. Christie was the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Brown of Brighton and came here as a bride only a few weeks ago. For over six years, Marguerite had been secretary to Dr. Wilfred Christie of Toronto East General 'Hospital and since coming here had endeared herself to all who knew her . The funeral, at the McDermott funeral chapel on Thursday, con- ducted by the Rev. Mr. Riddell was largely attended. The vast num- ber of floral tributes expressed | sympathy of sorrowing relatives and friends. Deepest sympathy is extended to the bereaved husband, parents, brother and all the sor- rowing family. Interment was in the family plot at Pine Grove cemetery, Prince Albert. Miss Geraldine Barry was the guest of Miss Georgina Leach over the week-end.
