Mrs. Holt- by opened the meeting with hymn 347 followed by prayer. The scripture lesson Acts 4:31-37, all were asked to read at home. "Mrs. L. McKee gave the legson thoughts "What God Expects of Christians in: the use of Time and Posses- sions", Mrs. Edgar Leask of Port Perry gave a very fine talk on two Bible Mothers, Hannah and Mary the the Mother of our Lord. Mrs. Burnsel Webster sang a lovely solo "The Holy City" with Mrs. Horace Webster at the piano. The business session followed with President Mrs. E. Holtby in charge. The minutes of thé April meeting were read and adopted. Members answered the voll with number of visits (if any) to sick and shut-ins. A nintion carried to send $650.00 to the Training School. Building fund, which is slightly over our allocation. A very fine bale of new and used clothing was packed and $10, was voted to" be sent to cover shipping charges. Mrs. Aird moved a vote of thanks to the guest speaker and to Mrs. Webster. Several thank vou notes were read. The meeting closed with Theme and prayer. Mrs. Holtby, Mrs. McKee and Mrs. Aird served a delicious lunch. Collection $5.17 Mr. and Mrs. A. Roach were in Buffalo for the week-end. - Mrs. Bain, Toronto was with her brother Earl Mitchell over Sunday. Mr. Fred Warren is in Oshawa Hospital for a surgical operation. We hope he will be around again soon. SCUGOG A special Mother's Day Service will be held at the Head Church on Sunday, May 11th at 11.00 a.n. The guest speaker will be Mr. R. B. Smallman of Port Perry. Mr. and Mrs. John Sweetman, Mr. and Mrs. Milton Demara and' Mr. Victor Aldred spent the week- end at the Scugog Hunt Camp, at Apsley, Ont. The Centre W. A. will be hold- ing a supper at Grace United Church, Wednesday, May 14. The Scugog Junior Homemakers will attend Achievement Day in Uxbridge, May. 10th. Mr. John L. Lay, Pickering, Ont., Liberal candidate for Ontario Rid- ing, had the opportunity of meet- ing residents of Scugog district on Tuesday, when he made a brief visit to several homes, accompan- ied by Mr. Clarence Fralick. Mrs. E. Pearson, Oshawa and Mr. and Mrs. Joel Aldred, Brook- lin visited Mr. and Mrs. Cam Al- dred on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Morley Reikie and family," Toronto, and Miss Marj- orie Milner visited Mr. and Mus. Douglas Aldred on Sunday. Mr: and Mrs, Bill Valentine and daughter Jinny visited Mr, and Mrs. John Valentine on Sunday. Mrs. Stanley May, Toronto is spending a few days with Mr, and Mrs, Stewart Rodman. Hill and Mr. R. Wilbur, and the choir will also take part. Choir practice is Thursday nite and will all members try to come and anyone else interested is wel- come. Congratilations to the newly- weds, Mr. and Mrs. Stan Alderson (nee Caroline Stevens) who were married at the United Chareh par- sonage in Brooklin on Saturday, May 3rd. In a letter received by Mrs. R. Sutcliffe, Pete says he has a job at Medicine Hat, Alberta. Mrs. E. Ackney returned to her home here last Saturday--welcome home. Mrs. R. Sandison is having a musical at Utica Hall on May 21, for the four schools, Vietoria Cor- ners, Marsh Hill, Bethesda and -Chalk Lake. Mr. and Mrs. D. McKinley of Lansing were Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Bailey. Mrs. Henry Skerratt Is in Lind- say Hospital but Aileen Skerratt is well 'enough to leave hospital and is staying in Port Perry. Larry Skerratt is staying with Mrs. J. Crosier and Kenny with Mrs. J.
