Gibson, widely known district poultryman, who won two ribbons for his entries at the Royal Winter Fair; Toronto. He received a first prize on one of his capon entries and also was awarde d a second prize on another entry. Allan Powell, R. R.1, Port Perry, placed 16th in the-final yield standing of the 500 Bushel Potato Club spon- sored by the Ontario County Soil and Crop Improvement Association. Grow- ing the Canso variety, Powell secur- eda high-quality-standing- of -fourth- out of twenty entries and won a:$3. prize. He was given a score on dry matter of 86.0 and on marketable potatoes of 65 and quality mark of, 1561.0. The estimated bushels per acre from his plot was 453. We cer- tainly did learn something. ; Grade X had the opportunity of visiting the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair on Tues, Nov. 18, this. trip has proved to be both educational and interesting in previous years. Knight of Uxbridge, Board, bl and friends of Reach Township met on Wednesday Nov. 12th for a banquet which was held in the Uxbridge Hotel, The Master of ceremonies Mr. Bert | Wanamaker toasted the Queen. A sing-song was led by Mrs, Grace Hastings, in which everyone heartily. Toast to the Trustees was given by Mi. Thomas Emmons-and responded to by Mr. Gordon Ward. Toast to the Inspector and Teachers by MY. SPARLING Bronze and gold mums and fern formed the setting for a very pretty wedding, which took place in Trinity United Church Meaford, on Saturday, Nov, 8, 1952. Rings and vows were exchanged by Sarah Catherine Marie Sparling and Wilbert Ray Paul. The: bride is the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Russel Sparling, Meaford-and the groom is the youngest son of Mrs. Paul and the late Mr.-Wilbert Paul of Peterboreugh. Rev. Gordon Lapp was the officiating | clergyman, Mrs. Mary Young pre- sided at the organ while: Mr, Ray Sparling "of Toronto, uncle of the bride, sang "Until" before the bride éntered the church and "Because" during®the signing of the register.
