Déar Editor.--This past week has __been a very eventful oue for me. We have visited many places and have seen many lovely sights. I have seen the Tower of London, the Royal Tour- nament, and 1 kaye 'walked across the famous London Bridge, as well as '_ doing many other exciting things, But now I will tell you about my travels in more detail. - On 'Monday we visited the Tower of London. Jr is situated on the Thames "because prisoners used to be brought up the river to the Tower, It is very : old, damp and dark, but still it is in- teresting. - We saw the Bloody Tower where Latimer, Ridley and Cranmer were imprisoned before their execu- tion. <n that tower we also saw the room where the two sons of Edward were murdered. The crown jewels are kept in the Tower and we saw My, how they glitter! When 1 first looked at the jewels I wondered if they could be real, During the after- noon we walked down Hyde Park, saw, Buckingham Palace and the Queen re- turning from a state drive. That evening we saw a film "Scott of We Antarous, i uy, L., Tuesday afternoon we visited Josiah Wedgewood's Show Room, It was lovely and I was almost afraid to walk around because the Wedgewood was so beautiful and so expensive, There Mr. John Wedgewood presented each girl with a coronation Wedgewood mug. It is' lovely and I hope-I can We were guests at Canada House and the De- * puty High Commissioner for Canada welcomed us, That evening we visit- ed the Battersea Amusement Park. We had a lovely time there. © After supper we were given rides on the various 'amusements--roller coaster, flying cars, merry-go-round, swings, electric cars and others. Wednesday morning we visited the House of Parliament and Big Ben. They are very huge and beautiful, In the afternoon we visited the Royal Tournament at Earls Court and the Queen 'and Prince Philip were present. Many servicemen marched before the Queen, The Royal Canadian Mounted Police gave their musical ride and we Canadians gave them a. big cheer. The tournament was staged in a large | = covered building similar to the Col- liseum in Toronto. That evening we attended a lecture on art given hy Sir} John Rothenstein, president of the Tate Art Gallery. Thursday" morning we visited the Tate Art Gallery where we saw paint- ings done by famous artists, We also saw a fashion show in the afternoon at Fortnum and Mason's Department store. In the evenirig we saw the Coronation film "Elizabeth is Queen", - After the film we took the train to Brighton where we stayed at the Astor Hotel overlooking the sea. On Friday morning we visited Ss, Paul's Cathedral. The architecture is beautiful. 'We saw the geometric stairs, the Whispering gallery and the Manchester Mrs, Vv. "Schnapp, 'of Buffalo, spent the week-end with her brother and sister here, The re-modelling of the church in- terfor js completed and ready for a Jovely wedding on Saturday. . Par- tictlars of re-opening services will be announced shortly. Wendy and John Barfoot of Toronto spent the week-end with their cousins Eunice and Susaji Roach. The Sunday School picnic will be held on Monday, June 29th at Geneva Park. The Women's Association will meet Thursday afternoon July 2nd, at the home of Mrs. Clinton Midgley. The Jadies are cordially invited, Considerable damage resulted from Baturday's severe storm. Mr. A, Fielding's house was struck by light- ning, Mr, H. O, Dobson's silo was blown down, many trees were blown down and hydro and telephone seryice disrupted for several hours, The congregation of Manchester United Church is invited to join with Myrtle and Prospect congregations at Prospect Church on the evening of Thursday, July 2nd, at 8.30 pm. to welcome our new minister, Rev. Mr. Mutton, The ladies are asked to bring sandwiches or cake, in London new chapel which is built because the old one was destroyed during the war, In the afternoon. we were guests of rLord Waverly on a launch up the (Thames. We passed under London, Bridge and Tower Bridge, and saw the docks where many boats were loading for all parts of the world. That evening we"saw the wonderful ballet "Swan Lake" at Covent Gar- dens. I will not be able to forget the lovely lighting effects for the. ballet for a long time, To-day. we visited 'Knole Castle at Seven Oaks. It was built in the fif- teenth century by Thomas Sackville and ever since it has been owned: by Sackville's successors, Well; to-morrow: we ave for 'the City of Paris and 'all the girls are very excited. 1 will cértainly be con- fused in money because I wil have three kinds -- French, English and Canadian. Next week I will able to summarize my experiences for you, Scugog Due to the holiday the Head W.A. will hold their July meeting on July i at the home of Mrs, Elgin Heayns. and Mrs, Laverne Maityn ré- HB attended the Jersey Cattle Club pienic held at 'the home of B. H, Bull and Son at Brampton. The members were also taken through the beautiful greenhouses of 'Dale's dace at Bramp- ton. : Mr. and, Mrs. S. Rodman and Mr. and Mrs. C. Graham spent last week motoring through Northern Ontario. They report. that due to the many rains this year, the scenery is"very beautiful, : Mr. and Mrs. C, MacMaster and family were Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Carter. Several from the Head Community attended the pasture demonstration at Woodville last week. Mr. and Mrs. M.
