Gerster; coach of the Lindsay Junior hockey team says that at a Tuesday night meeting the rel story of this year's Port Perry Flyers junior club was brought to light. Mr. Gers- ter says that the team will now be advertised as the Oshawa (Port Ferry) Flyers. : "This team has been ecritized in 'newspapers in-other centres for ing gone under the name-of "Port Perry Flyers when actually, other than one or two players, the team per- sonnel were from Oshawa. : In any case, the team, Mr, Gerster says will'be now known _ as the Oshawa (Port Perry) Flyers." ik. 2 SIE Sb Ve le Flyers Take Close Game from Lindsay Lindsay Juniors led Port Perry by two goals, well into the third period before the Scugog crew got rolling and edged the Lindsay team 7-6. Displaying the most frive and hustle seen on local ice recently, the Juniors outplayed and disorganized the Flyers through thg first period and set up a two-goal lead. On the play, the Jun- iors deserved two or three more goals; but Hawe, after fanning on Crawford's centre ice -bouncer, settled down to turn Lindsay back on many sure goals. During the first period, Geo. Kemp in the Lindsay net had scarcely i a dozen shots to handle, The game. was a thriller throughout with both goalies coming up with spectacular saves. During the first two periods, Hawe was swamped with shots at times. During this: middle session Lindsay matched Port Perry with a pair of goals each and a two- goal lead going into the third period, In the=final "session the Flyers' passing plays started to click eventual- ly to the tune of five goals to Lind- say's two. The Flyers tied the game at five-all by mid-period and went one up at the fifteen minute mark. Tommy Hutton put Lindsay back in the game with an unassisted goal at 17.30 and Lindsay carried the play in an attempt to rescue the win, Finally, with less than two minutes to go, O'Connor and Fisher broke away and scored what proved to be the win- ning goal. During the final half- minute of play, when Johnson was serving a minor penalty for: having | geven -men on the ice, the Flyers net and goalie were almost hidden by the blue and gold Juniors swarming a- round the cage. How the plucky goalie kept the puck out is still un- known: Tom Hutton was awarded a penalty shot early in the game but Hawe beat him. --Lindsay Post .
