Ross Hawe in Port's net turned in a shut out while his team mates rack- ed up 4 goals against the Petes. : The first period of play opened very fast and the only récording was in the Penalty box. Both teams served a total of 10 penalties but scored no goals--Bishop (trip), Romanuk (bro: ken stick), Neil (elbow), Fisher (trip) Johnston (roughing) Neil (trip), Hook (roughing), Brooks (antagonizing another player), Frizzelle (slash) and Ball (slash). When the Flyers took the ice in the second period it took them but 69 seconds to put the disc in the net to complete a nice play by Fisher, Neil and Bishop, with Bishop making the tally. Cornish made the second tally at 2,60 on a pass from Renick and from then until the end of the period no more goals were netted. Petes served 2 penalties and Port 3, In the third period the Pete's tried for a come back but the Flyers lived up to their name by checking-them to a standstill and at the same time waiting for the breaks, which resulted in them adding 2 more goals. First goal was at 7.60 when Fisher : passed to Dickson, who in turn passed | over to Attersley who's shot bulged the twine for the third tally. Fourth and final goal of the game ) was at the 156.46 mark, Port having the puck in Pete's end, Fisher made a rink wide pass to Johnston on the opposite wing and even though he was in position where he could only let fly with a backhand, he scored the longest range goal of the night to end the game 4 to 0 for Port. Each team served 4 penalties in the last period and while the Pete's tried hard to break through the Flyers lines they were no match for the fast hard back-checking carried out by the Port team. Peterboro return to Port Perry to- night, Thurs, Dec. 30, and you can be sure that it will be a game not to miss. Men's Thursday Night Bowling Schedule JANUARY 6-- 7 p.m. . Red Caps--Carps Stars--Mud Cats Blow Kings--DeLuxe Inter-County Asks Oshawa to Join GALT--Six teams filed entries in the Intercounty Senior Baseball Lea- gue for the 1956 season at a '"declara- tion" meeting of club operators here. Galt, Brantford, London, St. Thomas and Kitchener representatives posted the $60 entiy fee last Wednesday night. The meeting waived a clause in the constitution whereby new teams seeking admittance must receive a unanimous vote of approval, to per- mit Oshawa to rejoin the loop. Oshawa played in the league in '62 on a temporary franchise but was re- Jected last season. The eastern club's return will round out a six-team loop making up for the loss of the Guelph- Waterloo team. Waterloo was not represented at the meeting, which was the final one for declaring entries, and Guelph will suspend operatiohs for one season at least. DEFEAT MOTION A notice of motion by Don Gallinger of Kitchener which would have strip- ped Guelph of its players and other rights under the franchise agreement for failure to enter a club for next season was defeated. The Guelph club will be entitled to dispose of its play- ers--at a price--to other teams for the 1956 season. The players will re- vert back to Guelph at the end of the season, The majority of teams favored a lighter schedule for the new season, comprising 40 games. Brantford was the only club which asked for double- headers. Higher cost of operation and sagging attendance were the contri- |¥ buting factors in the desired cutback to a shorter schedule. Markham Girl, 10 Shot in Mouth . MARKHAM, Ont.-- A 10-year-old girl was accidentally shot through the |} mouth by her younger brother as she sat at the family tree opening pres- | ents on Christmas morning, Betty Walker slumped to the floor amid a pile of gay ribbons and wrap- | § pings when the brother, Jimmy, 7, dressed In a new cowboy outfit, picked up a rifle and it discharged. The bullet was removed and Betty later reported in "satisfactory condition." The accident happened after Jimmy's older, brother, Kenneth, 17, returned from target practice and placed the rifle on a couch. INew-Style British Industries Fair Offers Canadians New Business Opportunities The new-style British Industries Fair---the first to be planned by busi- ness men for business men--promises to be an exciting, gay and profitablé occasion for all who attend it. The organization of the thirty- fourth annual British Industries Fair to be held at Olympia, London and Castle Bromwich, Birmingham from May 2-13 has been handed over by the government to British Industries Fair Limited, whose directors are mostly prominent members of the Federation of British Industries. The theme of the B.ILF. has been dictated by two important events: the dropping of controls and restriction in Britain; and the world's return to conditions of "full compe- tion". So the fair has been designed to project the response of unshackled stimulating conditions, In a spirit of challenge and pride, British manu- facturers, many of them new-comers to the B.LF., will demonstrate a wide range of new ideas and new products.
