Following a report in the Toronto paper, the Attorney-General's office was contacted and officials there stated that they had heard of no change in the sheriff's office in Whitby. The report stated that Dr, Bascom, who incidentally is the senior sheriff of the province of Ontdrio, was being retired and would be replaced by Hon. G. A. Welsh, provincial secretary. Dr. Bascom told one reporter that he had no intention of retiring and a check made in the Attorney-General's office in Toronto indicated that- officials there had no intention of making any changes either, The officials there, who asked that he be not named, stated that the story in the Toronto paper was a complete surprise to him and ,'certainly did not | that Sutton By-law be passed mak- originate in the Attorney-General's| ing it obligatory for people who wish office." + : to instal septic tanks to obtain appro- val of thelr septic tank plans from SUTTON VILLAGE DEFERS FORCING SEWER ISSUE Sutton Village Council deferred un-| The matter was deferred, without any til February any action on the pro-| action being taken, until 1956 Coun- posal from York County Health Unit | cil's Fébruary meeting, : a building permit is issued by the Vil. lage Building Inspector, Fede 4 Week-End SPECIALS Jan. 14 & 15 - FLUFFO SHORTENING ........cc.ccoococoonvvivniinninnn2 for 57c.
