Scugog News Sunday guests at the home of Mr. » and Mrs. Angus Wilkinson were Mr, 'and Mrs. Lewis Sheaffer, of Toronto, Mr. Walter Hood, of Long Branch, and Mr, Stewart Nesbitt, Mr, and Mrs. S. Rodman, Mr, 'and Mrs, C. Graham and Mrs, F. Redman spent last week on a pleasant vaca- tion at Lake Bernard near Sundridge, Ontario. Our. Sunday School continues val grow every Sunday, as more summer guests arrive at Portview. Mr, and Mrs. Jack Young and fam- ily, of Toronto, were visitors at the home of Mr, and Mrs. Don Gerrow last Sunday. Miss Adams has left the hospital and will be at the home of Mrs. King in Port Perry for.this week at least. At 7 a.m. the following day they em- barked on the ferry that runs to Mani- toulin Island. The scenery along the this route is beautiful and for three hours the boat 'glided along on the calm waters to,the island dock. Motoring from there several miles] on the main road and turned on side roads to see the farms and other lines of industry that the people engage in, We. saw the crops apd pasture almost dried out. - There has been now rain on 'the island since the snow melted and the settlers are quite worried, Little Current-is the main town: where the "CPR serves the islanders fron Espanola. The train and cars cross the same bride joining the road to the main land. The 35 miles| of road to Espanola is very crooked with sharp feurves around and through mountains of rock. Mrs, Keith Crozier read a poem entitled-"July Rain", Mrs, D. Crozier led in a contest on "Old Say- ings". This was won by Mrs. Dave Moore.
