The president opened the meeting by reading a short poem.- We sang "While ~ Shepherds Watched Their Flocks", Mrs. Ernest. Larmer- gave the devotional reading, the Christmas story from Matt, and a fine paper en- titled "Love and Devotion" and offer- |: ed prayer. The roll was answered by the fifteen members present with "A suggestion for putting Christ into Christmas, and the number of books read, and calls made. Nine "thank you" notes were read and letters re our allocation and our bale for 19566. Treasurer reported finances in good shape. Literature secretary said we must read a little more before the end of the year to come up to last year's record. Group leader, Mrs. Carl Wright, then took charge, "It came upon a Midnight Clear" was sung. Mrs. R. Mountjoy gave a reading--**Our First Christmas" by Dr, Nadine Hradsky. "Gentle Mary" was next carol sung. Mrs. Ralph Larmer read "The Voice of Christmas". "Silent Night" was sung. Mrs. Jas. Henry read "The Road to Bethlehem." Oh Come All Ye Faithful" was sung and the meet- ing was closed with the singing of "Oh Holy Child of Bethlehem'-as a prayer. A dainty lunch was served by the hostess and"the group. "A large delegation from around here enjoyed the annual Pot Luck Supper and entertainment of the Federation of Agriculture in Newcastle on Thurs- day night. One rink from here consisting. of Merlin Suggitt, Bruce Heaslip, Roy Werry and Neil Bailey, 'won the jitney in the curling bonspeil at Lindsay on Saturday and each man received a turkey. Some others competed but were not fortunate in winning. The Mission Band, met in S.S. room Thursday with 23 children and three. lenders present, with singing "Silent Night" and re- peating the Mission Band Purpose and Lord's Prayer. Offering was taken by Freddie Taylor and prayer said by. Mary Bradburn. Worship, "The Christ- mas Story" by Mrs, Hill and Lynda Kyte on flannelgraph. Mrs, Ivan Mountjoy told the story from Study Book, "Merry Christmas". We sang "Hark! the Herald Angels Sing" and Mrs, Hill closed with prayer, The leaders treated the children .to candy. Wilson is --| home from Port Perry hospital and little Blain Martyn from Oshawa hos- pital. Prize winners at the Anglican Men's Club euchre party on Thursday night were: 1st lady, Mrs, Geo. Fowler; Mrs, Jas, Hutchinson, 2nd.gent, Mr, Keith Van- Camp. Door prize Mr. Jas, Hedge. The Parish Hall was filled to capa- city Sunday evening when the mem- bers of the Anglican S.S, presented a Christmas pageant, and slides were shown. The ladies in charge deserve great credit for the time and effort put into the training of the children and making the costumes and scenery. Sorry to report Mr. Geo. Wolfe had the misfortune of upsetting his car | and damaging it badly on Thursday morning in_ the endeavour to avoid colliding with a deer.
