The president presided, and the meeting opened with the singing of 'Jesus Keep me Near the Cross'. A Psalm was repeated and the Lord's prayer in unison. The Scripture ta- ken from the 92nd Psalm was read by Mrs. Eliza Fralick. A Mother Day poem was read by Mrs. Nettie Aldred. Mrs. Marion Crozier took up the offering. Mrs. Lucy Aldred showed some of her lovely bone and fish scale pictures, and answered many questions pertaining to her work. The - minutes were read and the committee in charge for the June meeting is Mrs. Gordon Flewell, Mrs. C. L, Fralick, Mrs, Cecil Fralick and Mrs. Eliza Fralick. We received an invitation to at- tend the bazaar at Prospect W. A. on May 30. Our roll call was answered by a favourite book title, and for next month the roll call will be a gardening hint. We were pleased to add Mrs. Craig's name to our mem- bership, and we welcome her to our gatherings, Mrs. Edna McLaren, re- lated about the trip to the Oshawa Presbytery meeting last April 26 at Northminister United Church in Osh- awa. After a lengthy discussion, we have chosen Sept. 26 foy¥the date of the Turkey Supper. Our bazaar will be on July 11, and four ladies are in charge of making posters for their respective shorelines: Mrs, Edna Me- Laren, Mrs. Raymond Fralick, Mrs. Cameron Aldred and Mrs. Christine Prentice. It was agreed to send an invitation to the W.A.'s of Manches- ter, Prospéct, Port Perry and the Head W.A: We were reminded that it was open day at the hospital on May 12. A hymn and benediction brought the meeting to a close. Lunch was served. Scugog Home and School Associa- tion met last Wednesday at the Head School for the annual meeting. The meeting opened with the singing .of O Canada. Minutes "were read and adopted, and the banner for May was won by the Centre School. The yearly award for the banner was won by the Foot School for thesecond time. The annual picnic was discussed, and it was decided to hold one picnic for all three schools. Time and place to be decided by the three teachers, This club will supply the treats, and prizes. Our president welcomed Mrs, Ren- nick of Port Perry, a former pesident of North York Home and School. L Mrs. Rennick explained many things to us and answered innumerable questions, We certainly enjoyed her talk with us. Due to the small num- ber in attendance, it was decided to hold nominations in the fall meeting. ' .% + The Mother's Day service was well attended last Sunday, Mr. George Beare, 8.8. Supt., assisted by Rev. Mr. Chapin in the combined service follow- ing the printed folder, Nine children were baptised including two sets of twins. The children of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Hunter, Mr, and' Mrs.. George Davidson, Mr. and Mrs. Murray Lee, Mr. and Mrs. Morley Parish, Mr, and Mrs. Ron Alldred. The music festival featuring the children of Victoria Corners, Saint- field, Marsh Hill, Bethesda and Green- bank, was successfully presented in our Church last Wednesday night. A great deal of work by the music super- visor Mrs, Sandison and by the regular teachers was well rewarded by a good performance by the children and heart- ily enjoyed by a large audience, Measles and chickenpox have invad- ed our community and many of our young fry have had to spend a few days indoors. ? The fund-raising committee of the Community Hall held a meeting on "| Monday night to make plans for the annual Field Day. - They hope to hold the Sports Day the middle of June and are planning a good program of base- ball, games and junior sports. " The Women's Association are hold- ing their convention in the church on Wednesday, May 23rd. The morhing registration is at 9.30, A large crowd of delegates and members is expected so we hope our own ladies will turn- out to support this project. Miss Ila Stone of Toronto, and Miss ? Myrtle Blakely of Brooklin spent Sun- day with Mr, and Mrs, L. Blakely. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Wilson visited with Mrs. Tyson Lee on Sunday.
