FLORAL TEA and BAKING SALE (Continued from Front Page) were shown by Danny Reesor, of lo- cal people and surroundings, with a few comedies for the amusement of the kiddies. It was pleasant to see Members from the Whitby Cub and Scout Mo- thers' Auxiliary and also our own past president Mrs, Leola Rider in atten- dance. . The Auxiliary Members were very pleased with the large number of guests who attended and grateful for the wonderful support received from the mothers and friends who contri- buted so generously to help make this gala affair so successful. We would like to especially say thank you to the non-members of this organization, who pitched in and helped behind the scenes to put our project over. It is this sort of community spirit that en- courages organizations to carry on this public 'work and our Auxiliary does appreciate the loyal support. Ae : Ly " y Hh NG ; wh | ) LAN { BY THEY ARE mistaken who think an increase in city wages automatically helps farmers. = The farmer's selling price of milk delivered to the city is the same whether the ultimate consumer is a schoolboy who pays 8 cents for a glass, or whether he is a prosperous-senior in a luxury restaurant topping off a lunch with a glass of ; milk for which he is charged 20 cents or more. If a city wage earner is now getting enough cash to buy all the milk or other food he and his family can or will eat, a further boost in pay will not persuade people to eat more farm products. Most city workers not only have enough for hasic needs but also todyk they possess what only 50 years ago would have heen IXuries only to be dreamed about. It is because Canaflians are so fortunate in their high standard of living that wage increases in cities do not really help hil A In fact, a hoost in wages will send up prices of - things firmers buy unless production costs per man are képt down in other'*ways. iy | 7 gh t bl J HE] : THE il STEEL COMPANY OF CANADA : Sy LIMITED 7 : # i - : MONTREAL GANANOQUE HAMILTON BRANTFORD TORONTO A Hy I it | ' _ eee === --- -- ' : 1) ------ -- ---- ---- A ---- S-- 4 19 + i Far 7 1 A------------ SS Ss-- ' COMPARE THESE VALUES!
