Fo District Churches SCUGOG PASTORAL CHARGE Last Sunday was indeed "RALLY SUNDAY" as our people really rallied to the House of God. Our New Sche- dule for Church Services is quite ac- ceptable, and everything worked out well on Sunday. At "Grace Church" we had the Senior and Junior Choirs. It was a busy day for our organist Edna Beckett playing for both Choirs in the morning, and the Evening Ser- vice as well. In the Morning the Senior Choir sang "Be still my soul," and in the Evening at "Head Memor- ial" sang "Like the sound of many waters;" and "Dear ' Spirit lead, me," with Joan Aldred and John Sweetman taking the solos. The Junior Choir sang "Unto the hills." The Church was filled, and the whole Service was planned for the children, with two Stories by "flannelgraph" which were "Thanks from the elephants" - and "Jesus and the children." At Manchester the children of the Public School led in song, under the direction of Mrs. Samells and Mrs, Sandison with Mina Steer at the piano. This was the largest congregation we have had at Manchester; and now that we have a Morning Service, we hope that we shall continue to have a full Church. The new hour of Worship '1.156 p.m, for Prospect- has met with favour, and the Church continues to be full. The Choir sang "God will take care of you" with Erika Benschop taking the solo, and Tot Holtby and Janet Vernon taking the duet.' In the Evening at "Head Memorial" we had Rev. F. G. Joblin, who brought Greetings to us, as we worshipped for the first time for many years in that Church. The Church was filled, and we were happy to have several from Prospect... The Theme of the Minis- ter's Sermon was "The inclusiveness Jesus loved Martha, and. her sister Mary, and Lazarus." The congrega- tional singing was exceptionally good, and so any remained after the Ser- vice to renew acquaintance. We hope that thege Services on the first Sun- day evening of each month, will be rich in music, and inspiring. Our next Evening Service will be on Sun- "| day December 2nd which will be the day when the New Church "Scugog Dnited Church" will be officially launched by our Presbytery. Letters went out last week to all our Christian families on the Island. nclosed was a short synopsis of our Statement of Faith, and some of the Will you Jan Elder, or placed on the collection We miss you when you are absent. of God's Love," and the text "And| requirements for Church Membership. A lovely wedding took place in "Grace Church" last Saturday after- noon, when Mrs. Mabel Lily Ash- bridge became the wife of Mr. Albert Russell Hood. Accompanying them were Mr, and Mrs, Demara. Mr. and Mrs. Hood will take up their residence in Prince Albert. We wish them every joy and happiness, We are glad to report that Mrs. Josie Bain and Mrs. Joe Miller, who met with an accident recently, are recovering very nicely. There were no broken bones. Mr. Will Holtby is gaining, and we hope to have him around soon. Both Mr. and Mrs. Holtby are greatly missed at Church. Our prayers go with Iva Fralick as she enters the Port Perry Hospital 'today (Monday) to undergo a small operation, We hope that Ri- chard Steer will soon récover from a recent fall when he hurt his back, Our love to the Moles of Manchester, and to all who may be shut in.
