The interior of our church sanctuary is at present undergoing considerable renevating, especially in vicinity of pulpit and choir space. Thanks to the men-folk who have given of their time. The members of the Good Neighbors Service Club gathered. at the home of Winnie Middleton, It was pleasant to have three visitors. The president, Pat Love opened and conducted the meeting by, first repeating the Lord's Prayer. Minutes of previous meeting were read by Grace Beacock acting in the absence of the secretary. Around bingo. W: Middleton was appointed to act as program convener for eom- ing term. Dues collected by G, Wil- liams, New business was outlined with plans for the future evening, March 8 regarding a telephone euchre. Several homes were offered. The ex- ecutive were named to purchase prizes for same. The Mizpah Benediction closed the meeting. Ilene Lloyd now led in a comic contest. Everyone was asked to the dining room to enjoy the lunch, tea or coffee. All sang greet- ings to the hostess Mrs. Middleton, whose birthday was Feb. 14th. Mr. W. Horsley, Toronto, spent a few days with Mrs. Smith and Miss Spence. - Several sons accompanied dad or granddad and enjoyed the "Father & son" Turkey dinner in the Scout Hall on Monday night. Sparks offered prayer, after which everyone joined in the singing of "Blessed Assurance". The minutes of the previous meet- ing were read and approved. Cards and letters of thanks were acknow- ledged from Mrs. W. Kerr; Mrs. Gor- don McDonald; Mrs. W. Hopkins; Mrs. G. Briggs; Mrs. R. D. Sherwin; Mrs. H. Fielding; Mrs. G. Cappell; Miss A. Dowson; Mrs. F, Poil and Mrs. Paul Martin. The visiting committee had an ex- cellent report. Those reporting had made several calls and had taken bas- kets of fruit or flowers to those who were ill. Mrs. H. Ashton, Mrs. F. Lynde, Mrs. R. Batten and Mrs. R. Graham were appointed as the visit- ing committee for the ensuing month. It was decided to invite the mem- bers of the Men's Bible Class to the March meeting which will be held in the basement of the Church. Mrs. R. Richardson, Mrs. W. Routley, Vera Leach and Mrs. M. Sparks were ap- pointed as the program committee. Murs. Edgar Heron then took charge of the program which had as its theme "Love". Mrs. Heron read a poem "Why .We Love Jesus", and Mrs. Bat- ten read a story "Blessed Be His Name". Mrs. L. Bradley chose for her topic "Love" and based her thoughts on the well known verses of the 13th chapter of 1st Corinthians, A poem "The Importance of Love", was read by Mrs. H. Ashton after which she told a very heart warming story entitled "A Victory of Love". Mrs, Heron then conducted a con- test on scrambled verses of the Bible, Mrs. N. Anderson won the prize for unscrambling her 'Bible verse first. A very delicious lunch weve and everyone enjoyed a socigl, time together. ¢ A vote of thanks was extended by Mrs. H. Ashton to Mrs. Daw for her kind hospitality. The members of the La uild sponsored a Pot "Luck Supper the basement of the Church on Thursday, Feb. 14th at 6.30 p.m. In spite of the inclement weather there was a good attendance. . Following the delicious supper an excellent program was enjoyed, with Mr. W. A, Kerr acting as master of ceremonies, Blest Be the Tie that Binds was sung and Dr. B. D. Arm- trong offered prayer. Margaret and Diane Fisher sang a duet "The Keys of Heaven" Mrs, W. Routley read a poem "St. Valentine" and told a story of his Ife. Margaret Gilpin and Faye Heron sang a duet which they dedi- cated to Mrs, Clyde Playfair. of Tor- onto (nee Ruth Richardson). Ruth was invited to come forward and on behalf of the community-Mr, Kerr con- gratulated her on her recent. marriage and extended to her the best wishes of all her friends. Mrs, Routley present- ed her with a beautiful brown leather hand bag containing a sustantial sum of money from her Ashburn friends. Ruth very sincerely thanked her many fiends for their lovely gift. Mr. Kerr introduced Mr. and Mrs. Peacock of Oshawa who showed some beautiful slides on their trip to Mexico. Miss Peggy Graham, ,of Toronto spent the week end at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Heron. Miss Vera Leach spent the week end at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon English of Woodville. Mrs. English entertained a number of friends on Saturday evening to a turkey dinner in honour of her mother's birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Ashton visited Jast Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Pugh, of Claremont.
