Hutton To the Curling Club Rockford, Alta, Feb, 20, 1967 Dear Neil and Members of the Cartwright Curling Club: I promised before I left that I would write sometime during the winter and tell you about the state of curling in this part of the country. Well, we have had a very good season although I have not been able to curl a great deal. Wé are in midst 'of what they call here "the square draw" which was what we called the regular schedule in Cartwright. We have fourteen rinks in this competition. There are a few lady curlers. The regular schedules are badly dis- rupted by bonspiels as every club around the country has one and it takes a whole week. These bonspiels sts four events and run on a pro- cess of elimination. One rink can win two competitions and the big prize is for the grand aggregate. By the time they get thirty rinks cut down to the two for the grand aggregate they have some pretty good curlers. Friday is the church bonspiel which they run off every year between the three churches on the circuit. It is 'to be at Rosebud this year and they compete for a small trophy that one of the men donated. . The winter is slipping away and we have had a really nice one here, I have a fifty-six mile drive every Sun- day and so fay have not missed one Sunday. The temperature has gone down pretty low about four times for a week or so but has been quite mod- erate.
