Under the direction of Mrs. Francis Sandison, the children sang in mass groups, took part in trios and solos, and finally a square dance. Dr, Fenwick, director of music for all sch. ools was guest of honour and judged the groups. Following a most enjoy- able evening the guests of honour, teachers and members of all the sch- ools boards met at the Library for tea and lunch supplied by Scugog Home and Sshool ladies. 1. Jim Camn-| 1.0.0.F. News While reviewing some of the high- lights of the past session we find many accomplishments and perhaps a few disappointments. Our lodge was privileged in being asked to confer our three degrees in various lodges and was also ably assisted in helping the needy. For the social side of our activities we again achieved much in the dart- ball baseball competition. The high- light was reached when a bus load of Oddfellows and their wives journeyed to Dundas, June 15th, to compete in the inter-district finals. Sad to re- late we were beaten by the Lynden lodge 23-21 and 29-19. Our boys (or most of them) were just below par that day However, it was readily agreed that district friends further enhanced the fraternal side of our Order. "As we shall rdcess for the months of July and August the news will be skimpy, but keep in mind the Odd- fellow and Rebekah Picnic, the date will be announced later. Hospital Auxiliary The June meeting of the Women's Auxiliary was held at the hospital on Monday afternoon 'last, June 17th, with the President, Mrs. M. B. Dy- mond, in the chair. We were pleased to welcome two new members, one from Manchester, and one from Black- stock. _ The main topic for discudsion was ing project for the summer months. The prizes are now on display in the office window of Messrs, Greer and Kelly, Queen Street, and tickets may be obtained from almost any member -of the Auxiliary, or from Miss Hortop, "Where the prizes are on display. We are hoping that the sale of tickets will surpass that of last summer as there are almost endless ways to use the money to advantage, although as men- tioned two months ago the primary object of the Penny Draw this year is to provide green linen for the operat- ing rooms. May we look forward to having the ticket container filled to the brim by September 14th, the date of the draw? Last year we published a list of the prizes, and as many people cut this out of the paper'and kept it as a re- ference guide we are publishing it again this year: } : 1--Smoker's Stand. 2--Carafe. 3--Ironing Board. 4--Barbecue. .b--Child's Car. 6--Breakfast Set. 7--Hassock. 8--Aluminum Lawn Chair. 9--Rug. 10--Electric Kettle. 11--Electric Frying-Pan. 12--Toss Cushions 13--Table Lamp. 14--Electric Steam Iron. 16--Kitchen Step-Stool. We had a very pleasant surprise a few days ago. We were informed that No. 1 and No. 2 Blackstock Brownie Packs are donating a baby's crib for the children's ward at the hospital. This crib will match the furniture we bought about two years ago, and is something we have been wanting for some time; however, these cribs are quite expensive and we hadn't seen our way clear to spend that much money. We thank the Brownies very sincerely for this splendid gift. We know it will be a real comfort to many little babies who may have to come to our hospital in the future, and it will be a real help to the nurses as well, The following donations are acknow- ledges with sincere appreciation: Mrs. Job Graham .........cin. $ 5.00 Nestleton Women's Institute .... 65.00 The T. It is a good many years since Ontario Riding has been so honoured. We believe that Mike Starr is well deserving of this position, He has shown himself a man of his word, a man who has worked for every section of the riding and who has given of his time and thought unstintingly for the welfare of the country and the benefit of his fellow citizens. He has been very fair in his efforts on behalf of the citizens of this riding which he represents. Fortune Jubilee Draw * Last week the Fortune Jubiee Draw was won by C. Heard, Port Perry. Thank you citizens of Port Perry for your splendid co-operation with the water problem. We are very plaes- ed with the results. Please keep up the good work until our new well has proved its worth. Some of those who use the great- est amount of water because of the nature of their business have given us their full co-operation in this matt- er, namely the poultry plants and garages. All this has been a very big help. If every citizen continues to do his share we will get along quite well this summer. Please note especially that if the water in your cold water tap begins to look yellow or brown that is the danger signal that the water tank is almost empty and a special effort will be needed to cut down on usage until a reserve can be built up again. It is imperative that a reasonable amount of water be held in reserve in case of fire. Also too low a water level will cause the seems of the tank to open up and make greater wastage by leaking. There are a few people who do not feel inclined to help in this important matter, and these people will be dealt with when necessary. Plans are going forward regarding the pump house ete. for the new water supply and we hope to have this avail- able before too great a time has elasp- ged. Again we want to thank all who have made such a splendid response to our appeal for care in the use of the town water, SUE HIGGINS - a pretty cheer- leader from Humberside Collegiate is shown above wtih the handsome Tro- phy awarded annually by the Manu- facturers Life Insurance Company at the all - Ontario Interscholastic Track and Field meet. The meet was held at Lake Couchiching on Saturday, May 26th, and the Western Ontario Dis- trict Schools won the coveted Trophy as they compiled a total of 90 points to finish in front of schools from 7 other Ontario Districts.
