4--THE PORT PERRY STAR, THURSDAY, JUNE 27th, 1957 LOCAL Mr. and Mrs, E. L.. McLean, of To- ronto, spent a day in Port Perry visit- ing old friends. Last Thursday a stray bullet crash- ed the window in Mrs, Harlan Davey's kitchen spraying glass across the en- tire room. The bullet was picked up on the far side of the kitchen. Mrs. Davey had left the room only minutes before the window was broken The bullet, .22 long, could have come a distance of a mile, or could have been a ricochet. Anniversaries Sunday, June 16th marked the 6th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Hall. They entertained in honour of Mrs. Hall's parents Mr. and Mrs. J. KE. Jackson, whose 3bth wed- ding anniversary was on June 16th and Mr Jackson's birthday which was on June 16th, Among members of the Jackson family present were Mrs. Z. M. Jackson, Mrs. I. R. Beatty, Mr, and Mrs. A. H. Rennie, of Markham, Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Love, Lexie and John, Mr. and Mrs. Wes Jackson and Karen, Master Ted Hall, Miss Georgia Brock and Mr. Bill Brock. Minor Baseball The schedule is half over and we "find the Jets, captained by Larry Brown on top, having won all their games, ". The Fair Board loaned us a couple of benches and I must say they roan around as much as the players for each night I come home they have moved. But they helped in our last game to keep the boys from flying higher than a kite. Now if some of you parents would roam this way you would get a real treat. The standings to-date: Team P WwW T I. The Bride is the danghter of Mr. and Mra. William John Wright of Oshawa, and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Tanton of Port Perry. Dr. George Telford performed the double ring ceremony and Mr. E. Kelvin James played the nuptial music. The choir of "which the bridal couple are both members, sang as a processional "O Father All Creating", and during the ceremony "The Lord's Prayer" and "Blessed Be the God and Father" while the register was being signed. Given in marriage by her father the bride wore a-full length gown of lotus white pure silk organza over net and taffeta. The slim bodice was fashioned with a sabrina- neckline framed in Chantilly lace which was repeated at the hipbone. The sleeves were long and pointed over the hand, and the graceful skirt billowed into a circular train. Alencon lace medall- jons studded with seed pearls com- prised her juliet cap which held her finger tip veil, and she carried a white nurse's testament crested with a white orchid and having stepanotis caught in the ribbon streamers. The matron. of honour was Mrs. Lloyd Johnson of Brooklin, Ontario and the bridesmaids were Miss Florine Booth and Miss Marilyn Wright, both of Toronto, the latter a cousin of the bride. All the attendants wore ident- ical gowns of frosted pink peau de soie designed with Empire bodices having oval necklines and short sleeves complemented with mittens and the bouffant skirts were ballerina length. A narrow sash with streamers accented the high waistline, They wore matching shell caps and carried cres- ents of white and shaded pink shasta daisies. Mr. Alan Hutcheon performed the duties of best man, and the ushers were Mr. Ronald Siblock' and Mr. Ralph O'Reilly. The reception was held in the lower hall of St. Andrew's Church where the bride's mother received the guests wearing a sheath dress of Delphinium blue peau de sole, having floating back panels, a picture hat of navy blue, with matching accessories and a corsage of pink rosettes completed her ensemble. The bridegroom's moth- er who assisted chose a princess line dress of rosewood and white crystall- ette, a white hat and matching access- ories, and a corsage of pink sweet- heart roses, Pink tulle formed the setting for the three tier wedding cake which cen- tered the candelighted bridal table, and the wedding dinner was served by the Jessie Panton Missionary Auxil- fary of which the bride's mother is a member, ; For the honeymoon trip to Boston, Mass, the bride donned a sheath Park (across from the theatre) on] Out dress of Dior blue shantung, with white accessories and an orchid cor- sage.
