Her many friends hope for her a speedy recovery. The Women's Association will meet at the home of Mrs. Fred Christie on Thursday afternoon, Nov. 7th. Miss Pearl Watson, Mr, W. Calder- one and Mrs. Marian Cooper, all of Toronto were guests at W. F. Cro- siers on Sunday. Miss M. Bownsull, Oshawa called on Mrs. Joe Johnston on Suhday. The annual Hallowe'en party was held at Manchester school on Oct. 30th with a good attendance of parents and pupils. A lovely lunch was served by Mrs. Samells and pupils. Epsom The Anniversary Service of Epsom United Church was held on Sunday, Oct. 27th at 2.30 with a goodly num- ber in attendance. Rev. H. A. Mel- low, B.A. B.D. of North Minster United Church, Oshawa delivered a fine sermon, and also much apprecia- ted was the message in song rendered by Wick Quartet, On Wed. Oct. 29th a Hallowe'en party was held in Sunday School rooms of the church, Although many were absent because of flu, those pre- sent had an enjoyable time. After the numerous "weird and wonderful" costumes were judged by Mr. Hender- son, Bob Taylor. and Alan Ashton, everyone joined in several active games, then lunch was served to con- clude a pleasant evening. The people of Epsom would like to congratulate the Utica folk on the erection of a fine, new hall. We re- gret that more were unable to attend the Opening, because of illness. Best of luck to. our Deer-hunters, Harry Geer, Hgrold Medd, George Jordan, Bill Anderson and John Mill- man who are hunting in the Manitou- lin district. Visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Rogers recently was Mrs. F. Lyle, Myrtle. On Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Martin and Lynda of Maple Grove visited with Mr. and Mrs. Christie and Darlene. Recent callers at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Leach were various mem- bers of the Leach family and Mr. Charlie Holman, Myrtle. Mr. C. Floris, Elliot Lake is home for the week-end with his wife and family. Visiting with the Floris' on Sunday were Miss Tina and Mr. Joe Martens, Uxbridge. Miss Betty Powell has accepted a position at the McGill University In Toronto. The E.O.C. held another euchre in Epsom Public School on Friday night, Nov. 1st. We're sorry to report that Mr. Leach, president, is quite ill. Mrs. Bailey, vice-president conducted the business part of the meeting in his absence, Prize winners were: Ladies 1st--Mrs. Gordon Taylor; 2nd--Mrs. Bob Taylor; Cons. -- Arnold Kerry; Door prize--Mr. W. Scugog News The evening service at the Head Me- morial Church last Sunday evening was well attended, and was-very en- joyable. The duet by Rita Wilson and daughter Carol was appreciated by the congregation. We are glad to have Mrs. Beckett again at the school, and hope the 'flu' epidemic is now on the decline, Mr. and Mrs. Orval Heayn, Mr, and Mrs, C, Carter, and Mr. and Mrs. L. Martyn attended the banquet and pro. gram presented at' the Seagrave Church on October 30th, This is an Annual event sponsored by the teach- ers of Reach and Scugog for members of the School Board and Councils. It was a very wonderful program, and was thoroughly enjoyed by all who at- tended. The Head Community has lost one of its most loved and respec- ted members with the death of Miss Edith Adams on Nov. 4th. She will be great]y migsed by all, and our sym- pathy is extended to those near her. Mr. & Mrs, C. Woodcock of Stouff- ville were Sunday visitors of Mr. and Mrs. J. Dowson. .
