Snelgrove and Joan Middleton. Ladies again circled around a quilt- ing held at the homes of Mrs. W. Brown, Mrs. Snelgrove, Mrs. L, Bond. Monday evening Mar. 10 the GNS Club gathered at the home of Ilean Pugh. The president gpened the meeting in the usual form and welcomed visit. ors. Reports were read from secre- tary and treasurer, Correspondence included thank-you 'letter from Mrs. Greenan. The telephone euchres of Mar. 7 proved successful, held in the homes of Elizabeth Skelding, Olive Brown, Grace Beacock and Ellanor Davidson. After the house prizes were distributed, the Club prizes went to high lady Mrs. S. Sweetman, high gent, Mr. Geo. Skerratt, low prizes to Mrs. LeClair and Mr. O. Croxall. So a special appreciation to every- one who assisted socially in the homes and financially towards our Club, Another session of cards is planned for Mar. 22, Business was limited, and meeting closed with Mizpah.' A session of bingo proved exciting. Sumptuous lunch was served by Olive Brown, Myrtle Snelgrove and Pat Love. ' Saturday night in the school-house the members of the Y.P.U. entertain- ed. the parents and friends to a dance. The school was decorated in the green in memory of a loved patron, Saint Patrick. The evening took on the airs of "Country Style" as all ages dipped and swirled to the appropriate mu- sic provided by Mr. and Mrs. B. Snel- grove and Mrs. G. Hunter. Mr. Kin- merily the "caller" assisting to put some dancers through their paces. The round dancers had their turn too. During a wee recess the leader Mrs. C. Newnham announced the Shays prizes went to Joan Elford and Jit Davidson. We also were treated by a few numbers of "Rock N'Roll" by Dayes Bros, and Messrs. Norrish and Mil- ler. As midnight approached liberal plates of variety lunch were sold, plus coffee. Thanks for turning out to assist the finances for a spring trip. Hope all had a happy time. A surprise party was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. M. Pugh in honour of her parents Mr, and Mrs. F. Gostick of Claremont -Aipon 'the occasion of their thirty-fifth wed- ding anniversary. The party consist. ed of immediate family plus close re. latives which also totalled thirty-five in number. devoted to cards and a few games, Then the climax came when the bride and groom of several years were presented with many lovely and useful gifts. After the mother and father had expressed their big thank- you, a delicious lunch was served. Finally all passed on their sincere wishes to the happy couple after a pleasant evening. Relatives return- ed home to such directions as Toronto, Brougham, Claremont, Stouffville, Congratulations are extended to Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Hunter now .be- ing great-grandparents, result of a new son to Mr. and Mrs. Isles, (nee Webb) of Haliburton. Mrs. B, Smith and Mrs. L.' Bea- cock attended the Woman's Hospital Auxiliary held in the home of the president Mrs. Dr. Dymqnd, who also provided a delicious luncheon. Mr. and 'Mrs. Kimmerly, Toronto with 'her sister Mr. and Mrs, C. Newnham and family. Mr, I Doyle's mother, Mrs. M. Doyle of Cornwall, Ontario has been spending a few days at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Doyle. The Dr. M. B. Dymond Curling Trophy was won by the rink skipped by Marie Snooks. Melba Owen, vice skip, Elma Doyle and 'Vernie Buller were others on the team, March meeting of W.A. met on Wednesday evening, March 12 in S.S. room with 26 in attendance. With Mrs. Eagleson acting leader of north group, meeting called to order by a opening poem and all singing the Theme Song. Hymn "Jesus Christ This special evening was Grow Thou in Me" was sung and prayer by Mrs, Fishley. Seripture was read by Mrs. Scott, The topic on Prayer was given by Miss L. Rey- nolds leaving with us many thoughts on why Prayer is so essential in our daily lives. A reading given by Mrs, Keen -- "The Glorious Minority". A Hymn "Come Holy Spirit" closed the worship service. } Mrs, Keen the President welcomed all present. Two ladies paid their membership fee and offering of $7.20 was received. Penny collection of $1.62 was taken. Minutes of last meeting were read and 'approved. Treasurer reported having $287. on hand and Mrs. Nodwell reported hav ing $18,79 to turn in for north group. Several thank-you notes were read by Mrs. Tait and reporting received a small donation for sick box com- mittee. After much discussion it was decided by motion that the W.A. would order 15 doz. chureh plates to be sold as a money making project. The group leaders and the treasurer be-a committee to look after this pro- ject. The parsonage board were instruc- ted to inquire into what work needed doing in the parsonage and to report back at next meeting, Hymn 'Blest Be the Tie that Binds' and benediction closed the meeting. A sing song of Irish songs with Mrs. Tobin at piano was enjoyed. A shamrock contest and game was con- ducted by Mrs. Keen and a delicious lunch was served by west group, brought a pleasant evening to a close. Mr. Edgar Butt has been in a Tor- onto Hospital for the past few weeks having undergone an operation. We are pleased to report that he is mak- ing favorable progress and trust he may goon return home able to enjoy good 'health. ' Couple Honoured : Forty years ago a young couple, Mr. and Mrs, Wes.
