Mr. and Mrs. Grani drove to Hali- fex to meet their two sons and their grandmother who are returning from Italy. Thirty-seven guests from Stouff- ville, Uxbridge, Fergus, Port Perry and Oshawa came to the home Mr. and Mrs. H. Walker to celebrate the 16th wedding anniversary of Mr, and Mrs. A. Gerrow. This was to have been a picnic but the weather not be- ing suitable, the lunch was set indoors. A nice sum of money was presented to the couple and everybody had an en- joyable time. Frank Wilkinson visited his parents this week-end. Sunday guests of Mv. and Mrs. Jas. afternoon last Roy and Raymond Bruce, children of North Simcoe | Farmers Visit Ontario County On Thursday, June 12, forty-nine i farmers representing three Farm Management Associations from North | Simcoe visited Ontario County for the Ontario County Farm Management Associations on their own farms. Mr. Clarence Hewitt, RR 3, Beaver- ton. Here they saw a beef-hog farin in operation. Mr. Hewitt purchased his farm in 1944, and has done part- icularly well in building up the size of his farm operations, The next visit was to the farm of Mr. Murray Holtby, RR 2, Port Perry. Mr. Holtby's farm is being strip crop- ped under the supervision of the Soil Advisory Service, 0.A.C. Guelph, In the short time that Mr. Holtby has been farming, he has built up a fine heard of Holstein cattle. The next visit was to the farms of Messrs. Lloyd and Les Smith, RR 2, Port Perry, These farms are also un- der the sapervision of the'Soil Advis- feng oh ed 8 of high steins on these two farms. The next call wat made to the farm of Mr, Walter Beath, RR 2, Oshawa. Mr. Beath has a high quality Short- horn herd. His farm is also under the Soil Advisory Service, and he is get- ting splendid yeilds of grain and for- age. The group was also interested in the number of labour saving de- vices used on his farm. The final visit of the day was at the D.H.S." Ranch, RR 4, Uxbridge. Here the group saw around 800 steers in two large feed lots. Mr. Ronald Duckworth, who is in charge of the feeding programme answered a large number of questions in a very able manner. The North Simcoe Group had a pleasant and enjoyable day, and were very pleased with their visit to Ont- ario County. |S Learn the rules of the road.
