' One Award of Merit was made to Mr. D. Kelly in the absence of Mr. Sid Cowley, who for some time was chief observer of the Oshawa Obser-! vation Post of the Ground Observer Corps. This award was won because Mr. Cowley and a -group of his ob- servers recognized two RCAF air- craft which seemed to be running in- to difficulties at night. ONTARIO COUNTY JUNIOR FARMERS HOLD SUCCESSFUL FIELD DAY The Ontario County Junior Farm- ers' Association held its 14th Annual Field Day at Elgin Park, Uxbridge, on Saturday, June 21st. The success of the day was evident in the keen com- petition which took place in all events. Over 60 boys and girls representing the Beaverton, Brooklin, Port Perry and Uxbridge Junior Farmers' Clubs took part in the competition, There were a good number of spectators also. The Uxbridge Junior Farmers' Club defeated Port Perry Juniors in the morning softball game. In the final game the Brooklin Club defeated the Uxbridge Club. _ The noon and evening meals took the form of a pienie, The Track and Field Events got un- der way at 1.80 p.m. with the boys and girls events alternating.
