TED JACKSON, WALTER ATKINSON, Auctioneers li Scugog t would' seem that. the omens of spring have become slightly disgour- aged. It is unusual to hear children complain about the long winter es- pecially in an age when homes and schools generally are more comfort able and transportation is mostly ideal everywhere. . iE What a contrast, when we hear of Australians suffering 93° yet turn- ing out in thousands to hear Billy Graham! : However, it can't be long before as March moves in, . Wednesday about 11 prospective Guides and their leaders from the Is- land visited the Port Perry group to [learn how it functions and thereby get some inspirations for their own new organization. Many -thanks to the new leaders--Myrtle Manns, Joan Aldred and Mrs. Loates who have a- greed to share their time and know- ledge -for the good of the young girls who approach adolescence. Since the Rebekah Lodge is so widely represented on Scugog, it will be of interest to learn of their pro- jects. The latest one took place in the - Redman home on Wednesday evening when Evelyn and 'Mrs. Thos. Redman were hostesss to about 3b péople from Blackstock, Port Perry and Scugog. The evening was spent in euchre and pleasant chatter, fol- lowed by the usual refreshment per- iod. The resulting scorés from the games gave high prizés to Margaret Warren and Mrs. Jesse Demara, Lou Pearce and Keith Crozier. Mrs. Snow some changes come for both sides, and Fred Hodgson were consoled with low prizes. : : Recent Island patients in Port Perry Hospital are Lorne Graham, Mrs, Barry, Chas, Reader, Mrs. Chas, Rea: der and Clara Dowson. As we think of our friends, thus, we cannot help the feeling of gratitude for such a close hospital and what it means to those who seek its help and the friends who trust their loved ones to its care. In Feb, as the Americans celébrate, with - holidays and festivities, the birthdays of the 'publicly great such as Edison, Lincoln and Washington, we like to honour the birthdays of some of those citizens still in our midst who have quietly lived their faith by example and deed. This time our best wishes go to Mr. Thos. Redman, ' We regret that Mr, MacDonald was not able to attend the Home & School as planned, since the Drama Festival required his first attention. However he has reserved for us his time for March. He wishes to have an open discussion, so will: you. please decide to bring along your problms, doubts, fears or what have you, at that time to the Centre. . Here's hoping Mother Nature steps aside and does not interfere with the Head Supper on Friday and the Head Games night on Saturday at the Twp. Hall. Mrs. Barry's group will provide the program and lunch for the Head W.A. next Wednesday night at the home of Myrtle Manns. The Roll Call will be Bible days, who has contributed bene- fits to humanity and what their tri- bute was". Have one in reserve in cage there are repetitions. . The Head supper in the Tea Room on Friday and the Head games night for everyone at the Township Hall on Saturday night have both been post- poned for 1 week in respect for the Reader family in their bereavement of Mrs. Chas.
